Summary
Spartan Fire, LLC (Spartan Fire
) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Gladiator and MetroStar fire trucks. There may be a loose neutral screw connection within the QO Plug-On Neutral Load Center. If that connection is loose, the affected load center can overheat.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect, and if necessary replace or repair the neutral screw connection, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 14, 2022. Owners may contact Spartan Fire’s customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan Fire
’s number for this recall is 22003.

RSB22-520-001
CONDITION:
Certain Schneider Electric QO Plug-On Neutral Load Centers may possess a loose neutral screw connection within the QO Plug-On Neutral Load Center. If that connection is loose, the affected load center can overheat, posing thermal burn and fire hazards.
CORRECTION:
Inspect load center plant and manufacturerโs date codes to determine if affected. If affected, repair load center per instructions below.

On July 14, 2022, Spartan Fire received communication from Schneider Electric about CPSC recall 22-159 for their Square D. Reviewed potential population.
July 20, 2022 – Escalated the issue to REV Group Management.
July 22, 2022 โ REVโs senior leadership approved a voluntary recall for this issue.
July 28 – August 5, 2022 – Spartan Fire confirmed with Schneider Electric of the population and part number expansion listed on their website for their recall. Spartan reviewed and expanded population.

Dear Valued Customer, This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Spartan Fire, LLC has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2020-2021, Gladiator and MetroStar model emergency response vehicles. Please note: The Vehicle Identification Number that may be affected by this recall is located at the top of this letter. What is the defect? As part of Schneider Electric’s ongoing quality monitoring process, a potential issue was detected that may affect specific QO Plug-On Neutral Load Centers manufactured between December 1, 2019 and January 12, 2022 at Schneider Electric Plant 15. The issue detected is a loose neutral screw connection within the QO Plug-On Neutral Load Center. If that connection is loose, the affected load center can overheat. If the load center screw connection is loose, it can overheat, posing thermal burn and fire hazards, and there is a potential risk for property damage and personal injury. This may occur without warning. Corrective Action: Spartan Dealers will inspect the load centers and repair, as necessary. There is no cost to the vehicle owner for the recall remedy. Labor Time: Estimated time for the remedy may be up to 1 hour for inspection and repair of the load center. Spartan Fire, LLC has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model years 2020-2021, Gladiator and MetroStar model emergency response vehicles. As part of Schneider Electricโs ongoing quality monitoring process, a potential issue was detected that may affect specific QO Plug-On Neutral Load Centers manufactured between December 1, 2019 and January 12, 2022 at Schneider Electric Plant 15. The issue detected is a loose neutral screw connection within the QO Plug-On Neutral Load Center. If that connection is loose, the affected load center can overheat. If the load center screw connection is loose, it can overheat, posing thermal burn and fire hazards, and there is a potential risk for property damage and personal injury. This may occur without warning. Spartan Dealers will inspect the load centers and repair, as necessary. Estimated time for the remedy may be up to 1 hour for inspection and repair of the load center. There is no cost to the vehicle owner for the recall remedy. We will contact all owners of these units that are affected by this recall. They will be directed to the appropriate dealer for repair.
