Recall 22-097-PUC / NHTSA Recall # 22V812 IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE – # 22V812 This notice applies to your vehicle(s) appearing on the attached list December 2022 This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Micro Bird has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2019-2022 G5 electric buses. So that we can notify you of recalls affecting your vehicle(s), it is important that you inform us of any change or error in your mailing address, vehicle ownership or status. (Please use the form at the bottom of this letter) In certain vehicles, the power steering pressure line may be inadequately connected to the brake Hydroboost unit, which may result in a leak or sudden loss of power steering fluid. Sudden loss of power steering fluid may result in a loss of power steering assist, requiring increased steering effort, and loss of power brake assist, requiring increased force on the pedal to brake, potentially resulting in increased stopping distance. A sudden loss of power steering assist and power brake assist increases the risk of a crash. To complete this recall, locate the unit(s) in your fleet that appear on the attached List of Recalled Vehicles and contact a Micro Bird dealer to make an appointment to have your vehicle(s) inspected, and if the defect is present, replace the power steering lines, free of charge. Visit https://www.microbird.com/dealers to locate a Micro Bird dealer near you. Once your vehicle(s) is(are) corrected please visit the Recall portal at https://supportclient.microbird.com and log into your User account to submit the completed and signed List of Recalled Vehicles included with this letter on the Form tab for Recall 22-097-PUC. This information will allow us to update our files. Note: If you have never registered on our Recall portal, use the Portal ID that appears on the List of Recalled Vehicles to create a User Account. Once created, on subsequent visits, you will only need your email address and password to access your User Account. Once an User account is created, we no longer print the Portal ID on the List of Recalled Vehicles. This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person. Micro Bird has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2019-2022 G5 electric buses. In certain vehicles, the power steering pressure line may be inadequately connected to the brake Hydroboost unit, which may result in a leak or sudden loss of power steering fluid. Sudden loss of power steering fluid may result in a loss of power steering assist, requiring increased steering effort, and loss of power brake assist, requiring increased force on the pedal to brake, potentially resulting in increased stopping distance. A sudden loss of power steering assist and power brake assist increases the risk of a crash. To complete this recall, owners will contact you to make an appointment for repair. We recommend that you order a few correction kits so you can correct vehicles presenting the defect without any delay. We request that you apply for reimbursement via the GOLs claim system with detailed invoices and list of repaired vehicles so we can update our files. Micro Bird Corporation will provide instructions and parts, as well as reimburse labor to mitigate this recall at no charge. The allotted time to inspect a vehicle is 0.3 hour, and if correction is necessary, 1.1 hour is allotted to correct the defect and clean the engine compartment. Important: We want to remind you that recalled vehicles must be corrected before you sell, lease, or deliver them; vehicles returned at the end of a lease must be corrected before they can be offered for sale as used vehicles. As all vehicles built on the recalled chassis had been delivered, we were not advised of this Safety Recall. Based on the information provided in the recall documents we established that the modifications done to the power steering system during manufacture of an electric vehicle modified the power steering pressure line, but that the defect may still be present after completion of the vehicle. It was also identified that the parts presenting the defect may have been installed on chassis not part of Ford Safety Recall 22S08. Accordingly, it was decided, on October 25, 2022, to recall the electric vehicles in which the defect may be present, either part of Ford Safety Recall 22S08 or not.
