Summary
Corp. Micro Bird, Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2021-2023 G5, 2022-2023 MBII, and 2022 T-Series school buses. The seat-level rub rails may be incorrectly attached to the side of the bus.
Remedy
Micro Bird will inspect and secure the rub rails, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 22, 2022. Owners may contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012. Micro Bird’s number for this recall is 22-098-RUS.

Micro Bird has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2021-2023 G5, 20222023 MBII and 2022 T-Series school buses.
In certain vehicles, the seat-level rub rails may have been attached incorrectly to the side of the bus, not offering a solid anchoring to the vertical structure members of the bus.
If the seat-level rub rail is not attached correctly, the protection against impact it offers to the passengers may be diminished, increasing the risks of injuries in case of an impact.
To complete this recall, owners will contact you to make an appointment for repair.
We request that you apply for reimbursement via the GOLs claim system with detailed invoices and list of repaired vehicles so we can update our files.
Micro Bird Corporation will provide instructions and parts, as well as reimburse labor to mitigate this recall at no charge.
The allotted time to inspect and, if needed, correct the defect is 20 minutes (0.3 hour) per vehicle.
Important: We want to remind you that recalled vehicles must be corrected before you sell, lease, or deliver them; vehicles returned at the end of a lease must be corrected before they can be offered for sale as used vehicles.
Chronology :
Since on January 1, 2022, the rub rails have been installed at a new production station. The goal was that the rub rails would be installed the same way as previously but at a different stage of the manufacture.
On September 19, it was discovered that the seat-level rub rails attachment to the vertical structure members was not consistent, some rub rails being attached beside the vertical structure members, thus only to the side wall. Training was offered and more emphasis on the attachment to the vertical structure members was added in the work instructions. The rub rails have consistently been attached correctly since September 26, 2022.
In parallel, the protection offered by the incorrectly attached seat rub rails was analyzed to determine whether there was a safety risk. It was decided on October 27, 2022, to recall the school vehicles on which the seat-level rub rails have been installed between January 1 and September 26, 2022.
