REMEDY INSTRUCTIONS
FOR AFFECTED 2021-2022 18RB, 24TB, AND
27RQ TRAVEL TRAILERS
(NHTSA Recall Number: 22V-882)
Dear Valued Dealer:
As you are aware, Holiday House, LLC d/b/a Holiday House RV (“Holiday House RV”) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2021-2022 18RB, 24TB, and 27RQ travel trailers.
Specifically, certain travel trailers are equipped with an LP gas Quick Disconnect which may have a defect in the brass which has caused it to crack, or which may increase the likelihood that a crack may develop in the future. A crack may result in a low-pressure propane leak on the outside of the travel trailer, which poses a safety issue to our customers.
These instructions provide a step-by-step guide on how to properly: (1) inspect each customer’s Quick Disconnect to determine if this recall is applicable; and (2) if necessary, remove the affected Quick Disconnect, replace with a new Quick Disconnect, and perform an industry standard LP-gas system validation to ensure that the new Quick Disconnect is functioning properly.
Necessary Tools
In order to inspect and properly replace a customer’s Quick Disconnect, the following tools are required:
- Manometer;
- Adjustable wrenches;
- Yellow pipe tape, or a bottle of LP gas rated pipe sealant;
- Clean rags; and
- Wire brush.
STEP 1: INSPECTING THE QUICK DISCONNECT
Before inspecting the travel trailer, please ensure that you turn off the LP gas at the LP bottles. In addition, please disconnect the travel trailer’s battery, and if equipped with a generator, ensure that it is off. The travel trailer must also be disconnected from shore power. Finally, please block any tires/wheels to ensure that the vehicle will not roll.
Once you have performed the above procedures, you must inspect the Quick Disconnect to determine whether the Quick Disconnect is subject to this recall. The Quick Disconnect is generally located on the bottom of the chassis rail on the passenger/curbside of the travel trailer.
Once you have located the Quick Disconnect, examine the rubber dust plug. If the rubber dust plug is black in color and has “Enerco Group” etched on the slider, then the Quick Disconnect must be replaced. The Quick Disconnects subject to this recall were manufactured by Enerco or Flex-Tech. Accordingly, any Quick Disconnect which contains identifiable information that it was manufactured by Enerco or Flex-Tech must be replaced. Unless the Quick Disconnect can be identified as being manufactured by a company other than Enerco or Flex-Tech, then the Quick Disconnect must be replaced. If it is clear that the Quick Disconnect was manufactured by a company other than Enerco or Flex-Tech, then the Quick Disconnect is not subject to this recall and does not need to be replaced. Please note that if the rubber dust cap is blue or yellow, then the Quick Disconnect does not need to be replaced and is not subject to this recall.
STEP 2: REPLACING THE QUICK DISCONNECT
If it is determined that the Quick Disconnect must be removed and replaced in accordance with this recall, you must perform the following:
- (1) Remove the Quick Disconnect: This requires two (2) wrenches. The first wrench must be adjusted to fit the hex flats of the pipe nipple installed into the end of the Quick Disconnect, which then connects to a manifold or bracket connected to an LPG hose. The other wrench must be adjusted to fit the body of the Quick Disconnect, and must be held close to the pipe nipple side of the Quick Disconnect. Keeping steady pressure on the pipe nipple wrench, unthread the Quick Disconnect from the pipe nipple. Once removed, use a wire brush to clean any remaining sealant or debris from the pipe nipple threads and clean off with a rag, ensuring not to get any debris inside of the pipe nipple.
- (2) Install the new Quick Disconnect: Apply either pipe sealant or yellow tape to the pipe nipple threads. Do not apply pipe sealant inside of the Quick Disconnect. Adjust one wrench to fit the hex flats of the pipe nipple installed into the end of the Quick Disconnect, which then connects to a manifold or bracket connected to an LPG hose. Keep steady pressure on the pipe nipple wrench, and do not allow it to rotate. Hand thread the new Quick Disconnect until it is tight onto the pipe nipple. Adjust the other wrench to fit the body of the Quick Disconnect. Keep wrench close to the pipe nipple side of the Quick Disconnect, and tighten the Quick Disconnect. If using yellow teflon tape, tighten two (2) full turns (orient the lever parallel to the ground). If using LP gas thread sealant, tighten one (1) full turn (orient the level parallel to the ground).
- (3) Perform LPG Test: Perform a three (3) minute LPG test at 8” water column with a manometer.
Please read the dealer notification letter dated January 10, 2023, which accompany these instructions. The dealer notification letter includes important information, including but not limited to, how to order a replacement Quick Disconnect from Holiday House RV, and what documents you need to submit to Holiday House RV to be reimbursed for the reasonable labor costs incurred by you in performing this recall.
Please note that if you inspect a Holiday House RV travel trailer in accordance with these instructions, and the travel trailer is not subject to this recall, Holiday House RV will pay a flat rate of 0.1 hours to cover your labor costs.
If you must remove and replace a Quick Disconnect in accordance with these instructions, then Holiday House RV will pay you a flat rate of 0.3 hours to cover your labor costs.

In affected recreational vehicles, the LP gas quick disconnect fittings may crack and cause a gas leak, increasing the risk of a fire. After a review of the pertinent records, it was determined that twenty-six (26) recreational vehicles manufactured by Holiday House, LLC may be affected by this recall. The recall population includes all recreational vehicles manufactured by Holiday House, LLC wherein a potentially-defective component was installed. Recreational vehicles that were manufactured without the defective component were not included in this recall. The defect is due to porosity, contamination, and carbon in the brass. FMVSS 1 : NR Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-882 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : A crack in the female quick disconnect may cause a propane leakage to develop on the outside of the recreational vehicle. A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source could lead to a fire or explosion, which could lead to property damage, physical injury, or even death. The risk of injury is exacerbated if the leak occurs while the recreational vehicle is in an enclosed or poorly-ventilated area. The risk of injury is decreased if the leak occurs while the recreational vehicle is outside or in a well-ventilated area. Based on available information, it appears that the actual risk of fire or explosion is relatively low, given the low pressure in the hose and the fact that any leakage would almost certainly occur outside of the vehicle. Description of the Cause : Upon information and belief, certain female brass quick disconnects are inordinately porous, and are contaminated due to the presence of carbon in the brass. Overtightening of the quick disconnect increases the chances that the disconnect may crack and cause propane leakage. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : The smell of propane gas at or near the quick disconnect mounted on the underside of the recreational vehicle would be an indication that propane is leaking because of the safety defect. In addition, if a crack in the brass quick disconnect is visible, this would be another indication that the component is defective. Holiday House, LLC d/b/a Holiday House RV (“Holiday House RV”) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2021-2022 18RB, 24TB, and 27RQ travel trailers. Reason for this Recall Certain LP gas Quick Disconnects manufactured by Enerco/Flex-Tech may have a defect in the brass which has caused it to crack, or which may increase the likelihood that a crack may develop in the future. A crack may result in a low-pressure propane leak on the outside of the recreational vehicle. A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source could lead to fire or explosion, which could result in property damage, physical injury, or in rare cases, death. The risk is heightened if the leak occurs while the recreational vehicle is in an enclosed or poorly-ventilated area. Recall Remedy The remedy consists of removing and replacing the Quick Disconnect with a different brand and performing a standardized LPG test. The repair should take approximately fifteen (15) minutes to perform and must be done at no cost to the retail owner. Holiday House RV will reimburse the dealer for the reasonable labor costs incurred by the dealer in performing this recall. Actions You Must Perform We recently instructed retail owners to contact their local authorized dealer to have this defect remedied. Please be aware that this recall is specific to certain Quick Disconnects manufactured by Enerco/Flex-Tech. As the dealer, you must validate if the Quick Disconnect on the travel trailer is subject to this recall or not. If the Quick Disconnect is not part of this recall, do not remove or replace the Quick Disconnect. Instructions for determining whether a Quick Disconnect is subject to this recall are included in the Remedy Instructions enclosed herewith. Please review the Remedy Instructions carefully before inspecting any travel trailer affected by this recall. As set forth in the Remedy Instructions, if you inspect a travel trailer and it is not subject to this recall, then Holiday House will pay you a flat rate of 0.1 hours to cover your labor costs. If you must remove and replace a Quick Disconnect, then Holiday House RV will pay you a flat rate of 0.3 hours to cover your labor costs. If the Quick Disconnect requires replacement, the dealer should order a replacement Quick Disconnect from Holiday House RV, inform Holiday House RV of the VIN for the travel trailer receiving the replacement, and return the defective Quick Disconnect to Holiday House RV (Holiday House RV will reimburse you for the reasonable shipping costs incurred in returning the defective Quick Disconnect). Holiday House RV will then ship the new Quick Disconnect directly to the dealer at no charge to the dealer. Please note that in the event of any supply challenges, there may be some delay in obtaining a replacement Quick Disconnect from Holiday House RV. If a replacement Quick Disconnect is not readily available, Holiday House RV will promptly ship the Quick Disconnect to the dealer once it becomes available. The dealer should then promptly contact the retail owner to schedule an appointment to replace the defective Quick Disconnect pursuant to this recall. If the dealer has a replacement Quick Disconnect available in its inventory, the dealer may instead elect to replace the defective Quick Disconnect with one available in its inventory. In addition, if a Quick Disconnect is readily available from a local company or distributor, the dealer may elect to purchase a replacement Quick Disconnect. In the event that a dealer replaces a defective Quick Disconnect that is subject to this recall with one from its inventory, or chooses to purchase a replacement Quick Disconnect from a local company or distributor, then Holiday House RV will promptly reimburse the dealer for the costs incurred by the dealer in purchasing the replacement Quick Disconnect, provided however, that the dealer provides Holiday House RV with a receipt showing the amount paid by the dealer for the replacement Quick Disconnect, and informs Holiday House RV of the VIN number of the affected travel trailer. Please note that the dealer may not replace a defective Quick Disconnect with an Enerco or Flex-Tech Quick Disconnect. Retail owners can eliminate any potential risk to safety by turning off the propane bottles until the remedy is completed. If you, as the dealer, notice that a customer’s Quick Disconnect is subject to this recall, but a replacement Quick Disconnect is not readily available, you should turn off the LP gas at the LP bottles until the remedy is completed. In addition, if you are housing the travel trailer at your facility, do not park the travel trailer in an enclosed or poorly-ventilated area, at or near any ignition sources, or near any buildings, materials or other areas which are prone to catch fire.
