Boom Structure Improperly Welded
A cracked weld may lead to the boom failing, increasing the risk of an injury.

Summary
Terex South Dakota, Inc. (Terex) is recalling certain 2022 C4000, C5000, C6000, C7000, General, and Trans TL vehicles. A seam in the boom structure may have been improperly welded, causing the weld to crack.
Remedy
Dealers will replace or repair the boom, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 8, 2023. Owners may contact Terex’s customer service at 1-605-882-4000. Terex’s number for this recall is SN715.

SUBJECT: Boom Tube Weldments
Issue:
Terex model C4000, C5000, C6000, C7000, and General digger derricks and TL80, TL80/112, and TL100 aerial devices, produced from June 1, 2022 through November 22, 2022, may have a defective boom weld caused by intermittent weld machine issues. Failure of a weld may lead to boom failure resulting in injury.
Chronology :
On November 18, 2022, a crack in a weld was discovered on a machine in production. A Quality stop was issued on that date to stop shipment from Terex until all potentially affected booms could be inspected. By November 22, 2022 all potentially affected booms at Terex SD facilities were inspected and affected booms identified for correction. On November 22, 2022, a crack was identified on a completed machine at a customer site. The decision to recall was made on November 23, 2022.
