Chronology :
September 6, 2022: A customer in Spain reported one tire – manufactured in the Lousado, Portugal plant – failed with rapid air loss during mounting.
September – November, 2022: The complained tire arrived at Continental Tire for analysis. The analysis revealed that the failed tire had an overcure condition. The Lousado plant immediately started an investigation, which focused on analyzing all availabe curing data. During this investigation, it was determined that other tires with potentially non conforming curing cycles were produced between Oct.1,2021 through Sep.28,2022. CT then began efforts to determine how many tires were shipped to customers. CT determined that 21 tires were no longer under its control and that five of these 21 tires were shipped to the USA and sold in the replacement tire market.
Nov. 28, 2022: CT’s Product Integrity Committee reviewed the investigation results and made a decision to recall these tires in all affected markets. To date, CT is not aware of any claims of property damage, personal injury, or death involving these affected tires.
