Production Dates : MAY 21, 2020 – APR 30, 2023 Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : Due to vibration, the traction motor mount may experience a crack, which can propagate and become unable to stabilize and secure the traction motor. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : In the event a traction motor mount cracks, and the crack propagates, and the traction motor mount becomes unable to stabilize and secure the motor, the traction motor could become separated from the vehicle, which could increase the risk of a vehicle crash or an injury. Description of the Cause : Vehicle vibration can cause the material to prematurely fatigue. The company immediately initiated an investigation to inspect the failed part, as well as other units in the field. Based upon the results of its investigation, SEA-Electric makes this report in an abundance of caution. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : At no cost to the consumer or retail purchaser, SEA-Electric will replace the described traction motor mounts. SEA-Electric will reimburse owners who paid for a remedy to correct the recall issue prior to SEA-Electric’s filing of this Part 573 report, in the amount of the cost of parts for the remedy, plus associated labor at local labor rates, miscellaneous fees, and taxes. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Recalled components will be replaced with a redesigned motor mount that does not share the features that can lead to the recall issue. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Production of the recalled units ceased in April 2023, before SEA became aware of the recall issue. SEA is implementing a redesigned part for future production.
