Tire Pressure Regulation System Failure
Tire pressure loss while driving can cause a loss of stability and control or tire tread separation, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Fruehauf Inc. (Fruehauf) is recalling certain 2025 Composite trailers equipped with Tire Pilot Plus tire pressure regulation systems (TPRS). All 8 tires may experience a loss of tire pressure while driving faster than 45 mph.
Remedy
As an interim action, owners will be instructed to disable the Tire Pilot Plus system. The final remedy is currently under development. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed in September 2023. A second notice will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Fruehauf customer service at 1-270-282-0605.

SAF HOLLAND received the first warranty claim reported a failure date of 27APR23. 11 additional warranty claims have been received for failures through 24MAY23. A seperate report from one customer reported an additional 8 failures that were detected before the trailer went into service. On 02JUN23, SAF-HOLLAND determined that a safety defect exists.
June 16 – Fruehauf Inc. received a preliminary notification about the issue.
June 16 – Fruehauf Inc. began an internal audit to identify the affected trailers.
June 18 – Fruehauf Inc. finished identifying VIN numbers and customers.
June 20 – Fruehauf Inc. began installing the SAF HOLLAND service bulletin in its plant.
June 21 – Fruehauf Inc. preliminarily notified its affected dealers of the recall.
June 26 – SAF HOLLAND sent mobile repairs units to Fruehauf Inc. to perform bulletin on trailers in lot.
August 25 – Fruehauf Inc. filed their own separate recall.

Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : From 23E-045 The interim corrective action is to disable the TPP system and for fleets to manage tire pressure manually. The final corrective action will not be known until the root cause has been determined. SAF-HOLLAND will pay appropriate costs. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-602 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR ยง573 How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : From 23E-045 The Interim corrective action will result in disconnected air supply hoses on all tires and at the ECU. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : From 23E-045 Permanent corrective action for production processes will follow the root cause determination. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : A customer notification letter will, after NHTSA approval, be mailed to all affected Fruehauf dealers and sold customers. The letter will include a service bulletin provided by SAF HOLLAND advising owners to disable their TPP system and telling them how to do so. From 23E-045 Once the root cause has been identified and permanent corrective action has been developed, a second customer letter will be sent out, after NHTSA approval.
