Description of the Defect : On vehicles equipped with the optional auxiliary switch package relay, the relay control wire may become trapped under the relay power cable connection nut during assembly, possibly compromising the integrity of the relay control wire insulation.

In late November 2023 INEOS identified a potential issue with the installation of an auxiliary switch relay on a vehicle at its production facility. In that vehicle, the relay power cable attachment point had pinched and trapped the relay control wiring. INEOS investigated further to understand whether the assembly issue was an isolated case or broader concern and also conducted failure mode validation testing. While to date only one (the original) vehicle has been identified as having the condition, out of an abundance of caution INEOS made a determination of a safety defect on December 7th, 2023. INEOS is not aware of any warranty claims potentially related to this issue. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : INEOS dealers will perform an inspection of the auxiliary package switch
relay terminals. If a pinching condition exists, dealers will repair or replace the damaged control wire section and secure the wiring. If the pinching condition does not exist, dealers will secure the control wiring with insulated tape as an added measure. All vehicles are currently covered under the INEOS new vehicle warranty and there are no out of warranty repairs related to this condition. As such, INEOS does not plan to include a statement in the Part 577 owner letter concerning reimbursement for pre- notification repairs. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The component is identical, corrected routing of component wire differentiates the remedied condition from the recalled condition.
