Summary
Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin
) is recalling certain 2022 Allegro Bus, Phaeton, Allegro Red 360, and Zephyr motorhomes. The pedestal mounting plate on the driver’s seat may be improperly welded, which can cause the plate to separate and the seat assembly to loosen or detach.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect for a missing weld and replace the pedestal, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 22, 2024. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661. Tiffin
’s number for this recall is TIF-135.

Models Involved: 2022 Allegro Bus Motorhomes, 2022 Phaeton Motorhomes, 2022 Allegro RED 360 Motorhomes, and 2022 Zephyr motorhomes built between January 3, 2022, and April 28, 2022.
Purpose: To provide instructions on how to inspect the driver’s seat pedestal to ensure a weld is present and if no weld is present to replace the driver’s seat pedestal with a new pedestal.
Tools Needed:
Torque wrench
¾ in wrench
1/2 in wrench
Parts Needed:
Villa Part Number 400029 Seat Pedestal
INSPECTION PROCEDURES:
1. Inspect the driver’s side seat pedestal to verify the weld is complete around the base of the seat pedestal. See Figure 1 and 2 below to help determine if the weld is correct or not.
2. If the weld is complete around the entire pedestal base, there is no further work to be done.
3. If the weld is missing, please take a picture and email to jim@villainternational.com for authorization to replace the seat base and to order a new part.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Raise the seat full up and then remove the zip tie securing the electrical harness and unplug the connection from the chair to the chassis power. See Figure 3 & 4.
2. Disconnect the swivel cable from the seat pedestal. See Figure 5
3. Remove the 4 nuts securing the pedestal to the floor anchor bolts and carefully remove the chair from the floor anchors.
4. Unfasten and remove the 6 bolts that attach the pedestal to the driver’s seat base. The electrical harness may need to be reconnected to power the seat forward and backward to access the bolts securing the pedestal to the base of the seat. Then slide the pedestal rearward from the seatbelt J brackets.
5. Install the new pedestal to the base of the driver’s seat and tighten the bolts. Torque the six 5/16 grade 5 bolts to between 13-16 ft lbs in a criss-cross sequence.
6. Reinstall the seat pedestal to the floor and tighten the bolts. Torque the nuts securing the driver’s seat to the floor bolts to 60 ft lbs.

about a safety recall they issued involving certain seat pedestals that come already installed on the driver’s seat were not welded correctly.
01/15/2024 – 01/19/2024 Tiffin Motorhomes was closed due to inclement weather.
01/22/2024 – 01/23/2024 Based on the information from Villa International the scope of motorhomes involved in the recall was determined.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : All motorhomes involved in this recall will have the driver’s seat pedestal
inspected and if the weld is not correct, the pedestal will be replaced by Villa with a new pedestal. This inspection and replacement if needed will be at no charge to the owner of the motorhome. Any owners that have paid for repairs due to this issue can send that information to Tiffin Motorhomes for reimbursement. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The remedy component will have a complete full weld around the pedestal. The recalled component only has a few spot welds.
Villa International has corrected this problem in production by inspecting and documenting after the welding of the pedestal is completed, prior to and after powder coating and at final seat assembly. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Tiffin Motorhomes will mail a letter explaining the issue to all dealers and
owners of units involved in the recall. Notifications will be mailed no later than March 22, 2024.

FLAT RATE CODES AND TIMES
No additional authorization is required for work completed at the flat rate times stated on the work instructions.
Please list “RECALL135” as the authorization on the claim for payment.
When filing the warranty claim for payment, please use the following flat rate codes and times.
BU9879RC01, PH9879RC01, RD9879RC01 or ZY9879RC01 for 0.10 HRS, Inspection, no replacement needed.
BU987KRC01, PH987KRC01, RD987KRC01, or ZY987KRC01 for 1.0 HRS, authorization to replace the seat base is
required from Villa International.

Villa Driver’s Seat Pedestal Weld
Dear Tiffin Motorhome Owner,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety
Act.
Tiffin Motorhomes has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022 Allegro
Bus motorhomes, 2022 Phaeton motorhomes, 2022 Allegro RED 360 motorhomes, and 2022 Zephyr
motorhomes built between January 3, 2022, and April 28, 2022.
On certain motorhomes the driver’s seat pedestal may not be completely welded. If the driver’s seat pedestal is
not completely welded, this could cause the seat to break which could result in injury to the driver and an
increased risk of a crash.
Tiffin Motorhomes will have the driver’s seat pedestal weld checked and if a missing weld is found, the pedestal
on the driver’s seat will be replaced.
Please arrange to take your motorhome to a reputable service center OR dealer of your choice to have the
correction completed. A list of Tiffin Motorhomes authorized dealers is available online at
https://tiffinmotorhomes.com/service-center-locations. Most motorhomes will need 5 minutes to inspect, but if
the pedestal needs to be replaced, the replacement will take 1 hour. This work will be completed at no charge to
you, the owner.
If you are using a service center that is not a Tiffin Motorhomes authorized repair facility, please make sure that
they contact Tiffin Motorhomes for the required instructions and time allowed for the repair. Tiffin Motorhomes
will not pay over the allowed time unless the repair facility receives prior authorization. For authorization, contact
Tiffin Motorhomes at 256-356-0261 or service@tiffinmotorhomes.com.
Owners may visually check the weld of the driver’s seat to see if it is present or missing. A picture of a completely
welded seat pedestal is below. If the pedestal of your driver’s seat is welded, a picture can be emailed to Tiffin
Motorhomes so that the recall can be cleared from the motorhome. Please email the picture to
recalls@tiffinmotorhomes.com along with the last 8 digits of your motorhome.
You may be liable for any progressive damage that results from your failure to complete the recall within a
reasonable time after receiving notification.
If owners have paid to have this repair completed, please send a copy of the invoice, that was paid by the owner

Bus motorhomes, 2022 Phaeton motorhomes, 2022 Allegro RED 360 motorhomes, and 2022 Zephyr
motorhomes built between January 3, 2022, and April 28, 2022.
On certain motorhomes the driver’s seat pedestal may not be completely welded. If the driver’s seat pedestal is
not completely welded, this could cause the seat to break which could result in injury to the driver and an
increased risk of a crash.
Tiffin Motorhomes will have the driver’s seat pedestal weld checked and if a missing weld is found, the pedestal
on the driver’s seat will be replaced.
Owners will be notified by mail about the recall and will be instructed to take their motorhome to a reputable
service center OR dealer of their choice to have the repair completed. Villa International and Tiffin Motorhomes
are allowing 0.10 hours for this inspection. If a pedestal with a missing weld is found, the time allowed for the
replacement is 1 hour. This recall repair will be completed at no charge to the owner of the motorhome.

Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to sell or lease any new Tiffin Motorhome covered
by this notification until this recall has been performed on the motorhome. Substantial civil penalties apply to
violations of this law.
