Heat Shield May Not Protect Propane Tank

Summary
Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Indigo and Luminate motorhomes. The heat shield that protects the propane tank from engine exhaust may be too short, which can cause the propane tank to become overheated.
Remedy
Dealers will install an overlapping heat shield, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 6, 2024. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-500-1020. TMC’s number for this recall is RC000306.

Chronology :
Engineering discovered the short heat shield during an audit on May 17, 2024. An investigation commenced May 20, 2024. TMC’s safety committee met on June 4, 2024 and all agreed to file a recall. No warranty claims or customer complaints have been received.

Description of Remedy Program : Installation of an overlapping heat shield will fully protect the propane
tank from excessive heat. The correction will be done at no cost to the owner. Any reimbursement will follow the general reimbursement plan that is on file with NHTSA. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Installation of heat shield number 0565358. This is a formed 20 gauge steel angle that covers the gap in the original design
