SAFETY
RECALL
SR19-03 A
DATE : April 2019 SECTION : 23 ACCESSORIES
SUBJECT: EXTINGUISHER CONTROL HEAD INSPECTION
Revision: A Important note added 05/07/2019
DESCRIPTION
The KDS-25 fire extinguisher installed in your vehicle utilizes an electrically actuated piston
actuator, fitted to the extinguisher’s control head. Upon system actuation, the piston actuator
depresses the extinguisher’s valve stem and discharges the extinguisher. The piston actuator
units, in certain batches, may not have sufficient force to depress the valve stem.
This document shows how to inspect the extinguisher and shows what to do in case your vehicle
is equipped with an extinguisher that matches with the piston batch codes impacted.
IMPORTANT NOTE
We will reimburse labor upon receipt of the certification sheet at the end of this document, filled with the
piston batch code and the extinguisher serial number.
The piston batch code is located beside the Month/Year information on the label (see Figure 3).
The extinguisher serial number is located on the neck of the extinguisher tank and starts with the letters
‘’TAR’’ followed by 6 digits (see Figure 4).
