Extra Screw in Junction Box May Cause Fire
Contact with the screw may result in the wiring insulation being damaged, increasing the risk of an electrical short circuit and a fire.

Summary
Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Magnitude, Omni motorhomes, models BB35 and BH35. Wires located in the electrical junction box may move around and contact an extra screw that was errantly installed.
Remedy
TMC will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the junction box and remove the extra screw, and repair any damaged wiring, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began July 15, 2019. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC’s number for this recall is RC000169.

Issue:
It has been discovered that on certain model year 2019/2020 Magnitude & Omni motorhomes, an extra screw had been inserted into the center of the junction box that makes connection to the generator and secures the junction box to the compartment wall. While the motorhome is in motion, the wires located in the junction box move around and the screw point has the potential to start rubbing the insulation off the wires. If the screw point starts rubbing the insulation off the wires located in the junction box, this could potentially lead to a short or fire, which could result in property damage, injury, or death.
Supplies Needed:
(1-4) #8 self-tapping screws
Electric Screwdriver with flexible bit holder
Caulk
Electrical wire (as needed)
Instructions:
- Access junction box via the 2nd compartment door (generator door) on the driver side of the motorhome.
- Once inside compartment, locate box on left hand side and remove box cover.
- Inspect inside for extra screw through middle of box as show in picture below. If there is no extra screw, you are done with recall.
If screw is present, please remove by accessing back of box via 1st compartment door.
- Inspect wires to verify whether or not they have been compromised by the extra screw. Add electrical tape if needed.
- Verify that box is secured to compartment wall by all 4 tabs (tabs circled below). If only secured by 2 tabs, remove box from wall, raise onto wall and secure by all 4 tabs with #8 self-tapping screws.
- Caulk the hole in the junction box that was left from removing the screw to prevent any water intrusion.

If any unit on this list has been retail sold you are asked to notify the retail owner as soon as possible of this recall because their vehicle was not registered at the time the retail notice was mailed. Please immediately register any retail sold units on this list. As a reminder, you are required by law to complete this recall on any stock units in inventory prior to retail sale. Any vehicle lessor receiving this notice must forward a copy to the lessee within 10 days.
