Subject: 10″ and 12″ Magnet Spring and Lever Arm Update
In keeping with Dexter
โs quest for continual improvement and a stronger product offering, Dexter is pleased to announce changes within the 10″ and 12″ electric brake offering. The update transitions from the existing magnet lever arm to a more durable design. The update concurrently requires a change to the magnet spring.
The changes are as follows, with pictures and part numbers shown below:
Magnet Spring โ The 046-080-00 will be replaced by 046-175-00. The new magnet spring changes shape, requiring a smaller circumference as the new larger magnet lever arm provides a more consistent mounting surface. The change also removes the hassle of inserting the magnet spring into the lever arm during assembly.
Magnet Lever Arm โ The lever arm part numbers do not change and will continue under the same part numbering scheme. The updated lever arm utilizes additional material at the base of the anchor post and can be identified by the lack of an indexing hole used for the previous magnet spring (see pictures below).
The new magnet spring and lever arm are compatible with all previous brake assemblies, but must be changed in conjunction with each other. Changing either component individually will create fitment issues and should be changed together. All existing magnet assemblies are compatible with the new magnet spring and lever arm. Moving forward, magnet service kits will include both the new and old magnet springs. As with all magnets, they should be replaced in pairs โ both sides of the axle.
