Summary

KZRV, L.P. (KZRV) is recalling certain 2018 Escape recreational trailers. The Federal Identification Tag and Tire Inflation Pressure Label indicates an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), and an incorrect tire and rim size with incorrect tire inflation pressure, which can result in the tires being overinflated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.”

 

Remedy

KZRV will mail corrected labels to owners with instructions for their application, free of charge. This recall began June 12, 2020. Owners may contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016, extension 154 or 153. KZRV’s number for this recall is KZ-2020-02.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. KZRV has decided that a non-compliance which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2018 KZ Escape models. As a result, KZRV is conducting a safety recall. We apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause you; however, your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us.

Reason for this recall	It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population fail to conform to the requirements of Part 567 and Part 571.110. The vehicles subject to this recall have been manufactured with the incorrect information on the Federal Identification Tag and Tire Inflation Pressure Label. The labels indicate a Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) of 5,000 lbs., a tire size of ST225/75R15E, a rim size of 15X6J, and an tire inflation pressure of 80 psi. The correct labels should indicate a Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) of 3,500 lbs., a tire size of ST205/75R14D, a rim size of 14X5.5J, and an tire inflation pressure of 65 psi. An incorrect label may lead to unintentionally over inflating the tires, increasing the risk of a crash.
What we will do	We have enclosed the corrected labels to remedy the non-compliance.
What we need you to do	At your earliest convenience, apply the new Federal Identification Tag and Tire Inflation Pressure Label over top of the existing labels. Please clean the surface before applying the new labels. This repair should take 10 minutes. You should contact your selling dealer immediately to schedule a service appointment if you require assistance in performing this remedy. If you had appropriate repairs completed prior to receipt of this recall notice, and if you incurred any direct cost in connection with obtaining such repair, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement from KZRV by contacting the KZRV Warranty/Service Department.

The vehicles subject to this recall have been manufactured with the incorrect information on the Federal Identification Tag and Tire Inflation Pressure Label. The labels indicate a Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) of 5,000 lbs., a tire size of ST225/75R15E, a rim size of 15X6J, and a tire inflation pressure of 80 psi. The correct labels should indicate a Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) of 3,500 lbs., a tire size of ST205/75R14D, a rim size of 14X5.5J, and a tire inflation pressure of 65 psi. WARRANTY REIMBURSEMENT:

A notice of this recall has been sent to affected retail owners. A copy of the Owner’s letter is included for your review. They may request that you complete the repair. If so, please follow the warranty reimbursement procedure. If the unit and/or units are in your inventory, or if you are requested to perform the repair for the retail customer, please complete the advised repair and send in a warranty claim referencing this recall number for reimbursement. The time allowed for repair is .2 hour.
