Heat Shield Missing Over the Cooktop
The heat from the cooktop may radiate to the underside of the upper galley cabinet, increasing the risk of a fire and bodily injury.

Summary
Triple E Recreational Vehicles (Triple E) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Unity U24RL motorhomes. The galley overhead cabinet assembly is missing a heat shield over the cooktop.
Remedy
Triple E will notify owners, and dealers will install a repair kit, free of charge. The recall began January 6, 2020. Owners may contact Triple E customer service at 1-877-992-9906. Triple E’s number for this recall is CA#9845-1.

The following are instructions for the installation of the U24RL galley overhead cabinet heat shield to comply with Transport Canada recall number QAAR 9845R1 and the US National Highway Transportation Safety Association (NHTSA) product safety recall, Campaign Number #738. The heat shield protection will prevent potential damage to the overhead cabinet from the cooktop.

Heat Shield Installation Kit
1. A stainless steel heat shield: B072848
2. Two steel shims B072849
3. 6 – #8Xยพ” Pan head screw.
Tools Required:
Tape Measure
Driver with a #8
Robertson bit
lsopropyl & towel
Pen

Remove the protective wrap from the heat shield and wipe away adhesive residue with lsopropyl alcohol.

Make a small mark 425mm (16ยพ”) from rear edge of overhead cabinet.

Slot the screw through the heat shield plate and then the steel shim on the top inner hole as shown.

Line up the tip of the screw with the mark so the curve of the heat shield is firmly up against the curved edge of the face of the cabinet. Drive screw into base of overhead cabinet approximately half way.

Secure front plate and shim to cabinet base approximately half way. Make sure the front radius of the shield is flush with the cabinet.

Slip the rear shim between the heat shield and the cabinet and secure with a screw on each end. Make sure the front of the shield is flush to the front radius of the cabinet

1. Secure the center screws into the cabinet.
2. Fully tighten the front two screws from step 4 &5

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic & Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Triple E Recreational Vehicles has decided that certain 2020 & 2021 Unity U24RL motorhomes manufactured between February 26, 2019 & October 30, 2020 fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard
Description of Safety Defect:
The galley overhead cabinet assembly has been manufactured without a heat shield over the cooktop area. When the cooktop is in use, the heat from the flame may cause the material of the upper cabinet to become too hot to touch. A fire may occur and cause bodily injury.
To Have This Modification Performed:
We request your assistance to have this Safety issue corrected. Please follow the included SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to perform the recall. For reimbursement submit a warranty application form.
Labour to perform this Recall: 0.4 hrs/ unit
