Pusher Axles Operation Position Not Listed
If the position in which the pusher axles should be operated is not listed, the operator may not know how the pusher axle should be positioned while the vehicle is not carrying a load, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus
) is recalling certain 2020 Bridgemaster Mixer vehicles. These mixer trucks do not have the position at which the pusher axles should be operated listed on the information plate.
Remedy
McNeilus will notify owners and provide a new information plate, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact McNeilus
customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

Bridgemaster V concrete mixers
. Certain Bridgemaster mixers may have received an incompletely stamped information plate. The missing information is when the auxiliary axles are required to be in the down/up position under certain loads. Without this information, the user may not be able to safely operate the mixer.
Affected Vehicles:
The affected vehicle population is McNeilus Bridgemaster V mixers, produced between
July 01, 2020 and November 09, 2020. Please refer to the VIN list of affected vehicles.

Review and verify your ownership of all affected serial numbers of McNeilus vehicles. If McNeilus
records indicate that you are the owner of one or more affected units, a Serial Number List is enclosed. Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to sell or lease the vehicles covered by this notification until this recall has been performed on these vehicles. Substantial civil penalties apply to violations of this law.

Reimbursement of Costs:
Affected units shall be repaired using the customerโs own qualified service technicians – at no cost to
the owner. The repairs should take approximately 1.0 hour.
Labor Reimbursement:
In order to receive credit, claims are to be submitted through the normal warranty claim system. Claims
must be received within 30 days of the repair. Claims must include the McNeilus serial number of the
vehicle, the customer asset number, and the number of this bulletin.
Labor reimbursement rate is $50/hr.
Parts Reimbursement:
Parts necessary for this repair will be provided by McNeilus.

Procedure A: Preparation
1. Perform your companyโs Lockout/Tagout procedure. If your company does not have a Lockout/
Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined Space as appropriate.
2. Battery Disconnect Switch
If your vehicle is equipped with a BATTERY DISCONNECT switch, it is located near the battery
box. Use the battery disconnect switch when performing any maintenance so the vehicle cannot
accidentally be started.
1. Turn the battery disconnect switch (Figure A, Item 1) counterclockwise so the hole on the switch
aligns with the hole in the bracket (Figure A, Item 2).
2. Install the safety lockout device ring (Figure B, Item 1) through the holes on the battery
disconnect switch and the bracket.
3. Install a padlock (Figure B, Item 2) onto the safety lockout device ring, lock it, and put the key in
your pocket. If more than one person is working on the vehicle, each person must install his or her
own padlock.

to prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which
could cause death or serious injury, disconnect
battery cables (negative cable first) before
proceeding.
Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If
positive (+) cable should contact ground with
negative (-) cable connected, the resulting
sparks can cause a battery explosion, which
could result in death or serious injury.

Procedure: Drill and replace
1. Locate placard (typical location is on the water tank saddle. See image 1, Item 1 below).
2. Drill out the rivets on the current placard (5/32 drill bit). Remove and discard the placard.
3. Hold the new placard up to the location of the old placard. Using a machinistโs marker, mark the
three new, additional holes using the new placard as a template.
4. Drill out the three new holes (11/64 drill bit).
5. Using a blind rivet tool, install the new placard with new rivets (Figure 2). Install rivets in the three
new holes as well as one of the original holes.
