Improperly Torqued Slide Pins On Brake Caliper
A dislodged brake caliper can cause a loss of trailer braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha
) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Skeeter ZXR, FXR, WR, ZX, WX, SX, and Solera Series boat trailers. The slide pins in the brake caliper assemblies may have been improperly torqued or assembled with the incorrect locking agent, allowing the brake calipers to dislodge.
Remedy
Skeeter will notify owners, and dealers will tighten or, as necessary replace, the slide pins, free of charge. The recall began January 6, 2021. Owners may contact Skeeter customer service at 1-903-984-0541 or at www.skeeterboats.com.

Trailer Brake Caliper Slider Pin Check
Checking Slider Pins
1) Remove the plastic caps from the rubber sleeves on the slider pins. Refer to the red arrow for their location.
2) Use a 7mm hex bit socket to check to make sure that each slider pin is torqued to 25 ftlbs.
3) If they do not turn and the torque wrench reaches 25 ft-lbs, they pass. If pin rotates before reaching 25 ft-lbs, check fails. Go to page 2 “Re-Torquing Caliper Pins” for further instructions.
4) Reinstall the plastic caps into rubber sleeves
5) All bolts that do not turn are considered complete. No further work is needed.
Re-Torquing Slider Pins
1) If the pin turns at all when torquing, it fails check. Remove the caliper pin.
2) Clean threads on pin with a dry rag and alcohol.
3) Blow out female threads in bracket with compressed air.
4) Screw pin in all the way to the shoulder to insure no trash present in threads, and remove/inspect pin again. Clean with alcohol if required.
5) Add blue locktite to the threads on the pins. Be sure all threads are coated evenly.
6) Screw pin in and torque to 25 ft – lbs.
7) Install the plastic cap into the rubber sleeve.
8) If pins are missing clean female threads as instructed above and install new pin per instructions that have been provided.
9) If pins are missing clean female threads as instructed above and install new pin torqueing to 2S ft -lbs. (Pins will be provided by Skeeter) A105:E129
10) If other damage is noted during completing this process please file a warranty claim using the normal Skeeter warranty process.
NOTE: There is a one hour labor allowance at shop rate to perform work described above.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
SKEETER Products has been made aware of a potential issue concerning the braking system used on some SKEETER built
trailers.
The issue centers around the slider pin(s), which secure the brake caliper assembly in position over the brake rotor.
There have been some instances where the slider pin(s) loosened under normal operating conditions.
Effectively immediately, we have issued a safety recall on all SKEETER Built trailers that are affected. Our records
indicate that your dealership has been invoiced the following boats with affected trailers:

Referencing the Boats that have been retailed sold, SKEETER will be contacting those owners directly and requesting
they contact their dealership to set up an immediate appointment to have the slider pins inspected on their trailer. Your
dealership must notify the owner of any affected trailer that was actually
sold but listed as “unsold” in the report. You must modify all affected trailers in your inventory as well
as all customer owned trailers brought to you for this service. Any affected trailer that you purchase from Skeeter in the
future may also require modification. If you purchase a trailer from another dealer or Skeeter, check to see if the
procedure in this bulletin have already been performed before you sell the trailer.
In the event you discover any trailers with loose and or missing pin(s), please refer to the attached repair process for the
appropriate corrective action. The attached repair process encompasses all possible scenarios and provide appropriate
process for each. Trailers that are affected should not be operated until they are modified. It is a violation of Skeeter
policy for your dealership to deliver any affected trailer(s) to customers until the procedure in this bulletin are
performed.
Please file a warranty request on line, using job code T300, to receive reimbursement for time expended as outlined in
the attached repair process instructions.

L IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE

This notice applies to your Skeeter Boat/Trailer Package (Serial # STE#####A###)
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Skeeter Products, Inc. has
determined that a defect may exist in certain 2020 Skeeter Built trailers which relates to motor vehicle safety. Our records indicate you own the
affected trailer shown above.
On the affected trailers, the slider pin(s) which secure the brake caliper assembly in position over the brake rotor could become loose under normal
operating conditions {allowing the brake caliper not to function as designed} and cause loss of control that could result in a crash.
To inspect/correct this defect, your authorized Skeeter dealer will tighten or replace the slider pin(s). This procedure could take up to one (1) hour.
However, your Skeeter dealer may need to keep your Boat/Trailer package longer depending upon their current service schedule. There will be no
charge to you for this procedure.
Please contact your Skeeter dealer to arrange an immediate appointment to have this procedure performed. At that time, your dealer will advise
you of the length of time they will need to keep your boat/trailer package for this service. Remember to take this letter with you when you drop off
your Skeeter boat/trailer package.
You should not tow your affected boat/trailer package shown above, other than to the dealer for inspection, until this service has been performed.
If you are unable to return to the Skeeter dealer who sold you the boat/trailer package, this service can be performed by any authorized Skeeter
dealer. For the name of a Skeeter dealer near you, please call 903-984-0541 or visit the Skeeter website at www.skeeterboats.com.
If you have had this service performed before receiving this letter, you may be entitled to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a prenotification
remedy of the problem associated with this repair. For more information, please contact Skeeter Customer Relations at 903-984-0541.
Federal regulations require that any Boat/Trailer lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this letter to lessee within 10 days.
