ReadyLift Lift Kit Bolts May Break

Separated suspension components can cause a loss of vehicle control, or create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary

WP Dynamics (ReadyLIFT) is recalling certain ReadyLIFT Lift Kits designed to fit certain 2019-2021 Dodge Ram 1500, 2015-2020 Ford F-150, 2005-2016 Ford Super Duty, and 2017-2021 Ford F-250 and F-350 pickup trucks (please see the Part 573 report for lift kit part numbers). Certain bolts within the Lift Kits may not have been heat-treated properly, which can allow them to break. Broken bolts may cause separation of the suspension lower control arm, radius arm, relocation bracket, or the crossmember from the frame or chassis.

 

Remedy

ReadyLIFT will work with their distributors to notify owners, and dealers will replace the bolts, free of charge. The recall is began on March 7, 2021. Owners may contact WP Dynamics customer service at 800-549-4620.

ISSUE SUMMARY: 

ReadyLIFT identified an issue with a small sample of the M18 130MM – 150MM Class

10.9 bolts shearing during or shortly after installation. The bolts were not properly heat treated to achieve Class 10.9 strength. Any ReadyLIFT product using these bolts during this time frame should have new bolts installed. Replacement ReadyLIFT product will be supplied directly by ReadyLIFT free of charge and all removal & replacement labor will be covered by ReadyLIFT.

INSPECTION, DIAGNOSIS & SERVICE PROCEDURE

ReadyLIFT is taking active measures to replace hardware in all kits using 130MM, 140MM and 150MM Class 10.9 bolts. Any of the kits listed that have been installed between September 1, 2020 and January 29, 2021 should have the M18 bolts removed and replaced at the proper torque specifications. Repair kits are currently available from ReadyLIFT. Expedited repair kits will be sent

out to any dealer, installer, or consumer requesting a hardware kit assuming the kit meets the build criteria. Each repair kit will contain the appropriate 130MM, 140MM and/or 150MM bolts. Repair kits are as follows:

• 44-1960 150MM (qty 4) – Front and Rear Crossmember to Frame Bolts
• 44-2575-K 140MM (qty 4) – Front LCA Pivot Bolts*, 150MM (qty 2) – Front Crossmember to Frame Bolts
• 44-2576 140MM (qty 4) – Front LCA Pivot Bolts*, 150MM (qty 2) – Front Crossmember to Frame Bolts
• 44-2576LS 140MM (qty 4) – Front LCA Pivot Bolts*, 150MM (qty 2) – Front Crossmember to Frame Bolt
• 67-2550 130MM (qty 4) – Front Radius Arm Bracket Bolts
• 69-2735 130MM (qty 4) – Front Radius Arm Bracket Bolts
• 9-2736 130MM (qty 4) — Front Radius Arm Bracket Bolts For kits produced after January 29, 2021,

For kits produced after January 29, 2021, a “QC INSPECTED” sticker has been placed on the packaging (see image) to indicate the product contains approved bolts. Prior to any kit installation on a vehicle, please examine the packaging and verify a QC sticker is on the box. In the event your inventory on hand DOES NOT HAVE A QC STICKER, please contact ReadyLIFT Customer Service to obtain a replacement hardware pack.

* Alignment recommended after hardware replaced.

 

WARRANTY LABOR TIME 

The replacement M18 Class 10.9 hardware packs will be supplied directly by ReadyLIFT free of charge and all removal & replacement labor will be covered by ReadyLIFT.

• Inspect, remove, and replace for kits with bracket-to-frame Destroy and discard old bolts: 60 minutes
• Inspect, remove, replace, and alignment for kits with pivot Destroy and discard old bolts: 120 minutes

 

Hardware Pack for
44-1960

Remove the 4 bolts from the vehicle (one at a time) and replace with the hardware sent. Retain any complimentary hardware including sleeves, shims, washers, etc.

This will require that the (4) lSOMM bolts are replaced.

The bolts will look and feel like the bolts being replaced. Please make sure to contain the suspect bolts during this process.

Destroy and discard old hardware.

Remove the 6 bolts from the vehicle (one at a time) and replace with the hardware sent. Retain any complimentary hardware including sleeves, shims, washers, etc.

Perform an alignment.

This will require that the (4) 140MM bolts and the (2) 150MM bolts are replaced.

The bolts will look and feel like the bolts being replaced. Please make sure to contain the suspect bolts during this process.

Destroy and discard old hardware.

Dear ReadyLIFT Customer:

This notice is being sent to you in accordance with guidelines from the National Highway and Safety Transportation Administration under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.  ReadyLIFT Suspensions, Inc. has determined that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain ReadyLIFT lift kits.  Your vehicle may be subject to this defect condition.

 

Why are we contacting you:

We understand that you may have purchased a ReadyLift product subject to this recall.

 

The reason for this notice:

ReadyLIFT identified an issue with a small sample of the M18 130MM – 150MM Class 10.9 bolts shearing during or shortly after installation. The bolts were not properly heat treated to achieve Class 10.9 strength. If a substandard bolt remains undetected, it could lead to loss of clamp load potentially resulting in separation of the suspension lower control arm, radius arm, relocation bracket, crossmember from the frame or chassis, which could potentially cause a loss of vehicle control. The separated components may also damage adjacent components including, but not limited to, suspension or body panel components and result in hazardous road debris.

The replacement M18 Class 10.9 hardware packs will be supplied directly by ReadyLIFT free of charge and all removal & replacement labor will be covered by ReadyLIFT.  The inspection, removal, and replacement may take one or two hours depending on the kit.
