Summary
Customer Advisory Letter on Adding HVAC Ducting and Vent for the Upper Bunk
Models Affected: New Cascadia vehicles with a 72-inch raised roof sleeper
General Information
Our records indicate that you are the owner of certain New Cascadia vehicles with a raised roof sleeper cab and an upper bunk, built prior to the release of a factory-installed upper HVAC vent.
These instructions apply to Freightliner New Cascadia vehicles built in model years 2017, 2018, and 2019, and manufactured at the Cleveland or Saltillo manufacturing plants beginning April 18, 2016.
Parts and Tools
See Fig. 1 for a list of parts in this bulletin.
1. Screw-TPG (23-10898-706)
2. Louver (WNA398551)
3. Flex Tubing (ESP 5550017)
4. Screw-SEMS 23-12981-707
5. Cable Tie, Nylon, Black (TYC T120MR)
6. Cable Tie, Nylon (23-09796-509)
7. Adapter, Duct (22-76285-000)
The following tools are required for this procedure:
- Industrial Adhesive
- Sawsall, or equivalent
- T20 and T25 drill bit
- 2-9/16 inch (65 mm) Hole Saw
- 3 inch (76 mm) Hole Saw
Installation Instructions
1. Park the vehicle, shut down the engine, and apply the parking brakes. Chock the tires.
2. Remove the HVAC cabinet ducting by removing the screws at the locations shown. See Fig. 2 .
3. With the ducting removed, slide on the adapter (22-76285-000) and align the bottom edge to the beginning of the mounting tab. See Fig. 3 .
4. Attach the adapter to the ducting. See Fig. 4 .
4.1 Position the adapter on the ducting, and mark the outside edge.
4.2 Measure 1.18 inches (30 mm) from the side and bottom of the mark, then cut an opening using a sawsall, or equivalent.
4.3 Apply industrial strength adhesive to the adapter, then attach the adapter to the ducting. Refer to the adhesive manufacturerโs recommendation for curing time.
5. Locate the area shown in red for the flex ducting pass-through hole. See Fig. 5 .
NOTE: Green areas indicate safe drilling areas. The red outline is the optimal location.
A. The hole should be 2.5 inches (63.5 mm +/-5) in diameter.
B. The ducting pass-through should be located below this fastener.
6. Backdrill up to the cabinet above using a 2-9/16 hole saw. See Fig. 6 .
IMPORTANT: The inner panel may require a larger 3 inch (76 mm) to 3.5 inch (89 mm) hole saw to allow connection of the flex duct to the louver. See Fig. 7 .
7. Measure and locate the mounting hole for the louver (Item B), then drill through the outside panel of the upper cabinet using a 2-9/16 hole saw. See Fig. 8 .
A. Measure 4.3 inches (110 mm +/-5).
B. Measure 9.2 inches (234 mm +/-5).
C. Measure 2.5 inches (63.5 mm +/-5).
8. Install the HVAC cabinet ducting with the attached adapter, using the 4 mounting screws. See Fig. 9.
9. Install the flex ducting using cable ties. See Fig. 10. Trim the flex ducting, as required.
10. Install the louver using 3 screws (23-10898-706).
See Fig. 11, and Fig. 12 for final installation.

- Approved for use in California
- High Mileage refrigerant for vehicles over 75, 000 miles
- Contains approximately 10 oz. of R-134a and 2 oz. of additives
- Contains leak sealer to seal common A/C leaks in rubber hoses, gaskets, and O-rings
- Contains high mileage No wear additives
- Universal - ZeroR AC Refrigerant is a hydrocarbon that safely bonds with chemicals like R134a, R1234YF and R12. We can only advertise this product to be used in R134a systems due to EPA regulations in the USA on both R12 and R1234YF systems. EPA also prohibits mixing refrigerant types. See the description for all legal disclaimers.
- Easy - This product installs just as easily as any R134a products. Cans even have R134a threads and the majority of R134a can taps will work for these cans.
- 6oz Cans - Refrigerants are compressed gasses and are measured by weight, not by liquid volume such as water. All gasses compress differently and produce a different weight. ZeroR AC Refrigerant is low weight compared to R134a, but its performance is equal to 16oz of R134a.
- Eco Friendly โ ZeroR AC Refrigerant is a 100% Natural gas unlike R134a, R1234yf and R12.
- Safe โ ZeroR AC Refrigerant has a class 2.1 flammability rating just like the new R1234YF which is now used in 100% of newly manufactured vehicles. Under normal operating conditions this product presents no danger to its users when handled properly and used in systems approved for flammable refrigerants.
- This item cannot be shipped to Washington or California
- Restore Original Cooling: Bring your A/C performance back to its original cold air state.
- Established Product: This is the original Enviro-Safe Refrigerant introduced over 27 years ago.
- Equivalent Efficiency: 1 can of Enviro-Safe R134a Replacement refrigerant equals 1lb of R134a.
- Lower Head Pressure: Operates at lower head pressure for improved efficiency.
- Improved Cooling: Offers improved cooling properties and performance compared to standard refrigerants.
- Contains approximately 1.5oz of refrigerant and 1.5oz of additives
- Repairs Metal Leaks in evaporators, condensers, compressors, accumulators and receiver dryers
- Seals Rubber Leaks in O-rings, gaskets, and hoses
- With red dye for detecting leaks too large to repair
- Reusable dispensing hose designed for compliance and to work only with R-134a cans with self-sealing valve can tops
- Replaces lost R-134a refrigerant and oil in automotive A/C system
- System safe stop leak sealer stops most common A/C leaks with hoses, gaskets and O-Rings
- Special anti-wear additives extend system life and improve performance
- Contains R-134a gas which is acceptable for use in motor vehicle A/C (MVAC) systems
- Complies with Section 612 of the EPA Clean Air Act, EPA Compliant in Self Sealing Cans
