PROBLEM
Valve train covers paint peeling on some vehicles.
SOLUTION
Inspect vehicle for valve train covers paint defects.
Replace valve train covers if inspection reveals defects.
PARTS REQUIRED
Order parts through regular channel.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Inspection
Clean the valve train covers using XPS ROADSTER WASH (P/N 219 701 703) to remove any grease or dust.
Apply a high adhesive tape such as DUCT TAPE on the valve train covers.
Remove the tape.
Inspect for paint discoloration or any paint peeling.
If inspection does not reveal any defects, no other action is necessary.
If inspection reveals defects, perform the repair.
Repair
Lift vehicle LH side from the ground in order to prevent oil spillage.
Replace the valve train covers according to appropriate SHOP MANUAL procedure using new gaskets.
Return vehicle on the ground.
Verify oil quantity and refill as necessary.
Start engine and make sure there is no leak.
