Peterbilt has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2020 through 2023 Model Year, 536 and 537 chassis built from 6/17/2020 through 4/26/2022 and equipped with an Allison 1000 or 2000 series automatic transmission. Internal components of the transmission actuator may slip, causing the actuator to become mis-calibrated. On affected vehicles, if the transmission actuator becomes mis-calibrated, the transmission may shift into an unexpected gear. This may increase the risk of a crash. What is the problem? The transmission actuator may slip causing the actuator to become mis-calibrated and the transmission may shift into an unexpected gear. What will your dealer do? When the repair procedure and parts are available, your dealer will replace the necessary parts per the decided repair procedure. What should you do? There is no action required on your part at this time. You will receive a letter notifying you when the repair procedure and parts are available. Peterbilt Motors Company has initiated this recall to remedy the issue with no charge to you. Currently, the repair procedure is unavailable to correct this condition. However, the time involved in shipping and rebuilding the actuator is undetermined since these processes are being performed by third parties. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedy components will be reworked to add a key to secure internal components relative to each other and have a mark on the part label to indicate they have been reworked. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Transmission actuators used to build production parts will include a key to secure internal components relative to each other.
