IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL
Besser Pro, LLC
July 2022
Dear Besser Customer:
We are writing to inform you that Besser Pro, LLC has determined that certain Besser Pro, 7000-pound, tubular straight axles contain a safety-related defect, manufactured Oct. 7-25, 2021. Besser has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of this safety-related defect.
You are receiving this notice because Besserโs records indicate that you received axles that may be subject to this safetyrelated defect.
What is the Problem?
Due to a manufacturing error, the weld joining the spindle to the main beam of axle may not be properly placed, which could result in improper weld penetration or in an otherwise deficient weld. The potential deficient weld could fail when stressed by a heavy load or hard impact. Upon examination of spindle welds, any evidence of cracking means axle has been overstressed is evidence that it could break under further pressure. A weld failure could result in cracking of axle or separation of spindle, which increases the risk of a crash.
What Should You Do?
- Product Remaining in Your Inventory: If any recalled axles remain in your inventory, you should quarantine them and contact Besserโs Quality Assurance Representative for return authorization at info@besserpro.com or 903-653-4733.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Federal law prohibits the sale of the recalled products.
- Products You Sold to Other Resellers: If you sold the recalled products to reselling customers (such as service parts), you must do the following: (1) forward a copy of this letter to them within five (5) business days of receipt, and (2) provide Besserโs Quality Assurance Representative with the contact information for the reselling customers to enable us to provide direct notification to those customers and track the recallโs progress. Reselling customers should provide consumer contact information to Besserโs Quality Assurance Representative at info@besserpro.com or 903-653-4733.
- Products You Installed on Trailers Sold to Consumers: If you sold the recalled product to consumers, you should provide Besserโs Quality Assurance Representative the contact information for those consumers. Besser will notify these consumer with a notification letter, which advises consumers of the issue in accordance with the applicable NHTSA regulation. See 49 CFR Part 577.

Chronology :
Jul 5 2022. Besser became aware of accident involving a trailer equipped with a Besser axle, based on information shared by one of its trailer-manufacturer customers.
Jul 6-11, 2022. Besser reviewed warranty records and found a small percentage of claims related to axles with cracking or breaking that could be related to welding. Besser reviewed manufacturing records and discovered that a minute misalignment of the welding head of the auto-welding machine could have resulted in unequal weld penetration.
Jul 11, 2022. Based on available information, Besser determined that a population of axles produced between 10/7/2021-10/25/2021 may have defective spindle welds. After reviewing this information, Besser determined the potential weld issue constituted a safety-related defect.

IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL
RECALL NO. 22E-059
Dear Besser Customer: This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Besser Pro, LLC has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 7000-pound tubular straight axle assemblies manufactured between October 7, 2021 and October 25, 2021. Our records indicate that you purchased a trailer or a replacement axle with the subject axle.
WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT THE PROBLEM? Besser is working with the trailer manufacturer to replace defective axles at no charge with a new axle. If you purchased a replacement axle subject to this recall, Besser will replace the defective axle at no charge with a new axle. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? If you purchased a trailer equipped with a subject axle, you may contact the trailer manufacturer for instructions. You may also contact Besser at info@besserpro.com or 903-653- 4733 for instructions to have your axle inspected and, for axles with defective welds, to have the axle replaced free of charge. The inspection will take approximately 0.5 hours. For axles that need to be replaced, you will be able to schedule a time for the replacement, which will take approximately 1-2 hours. QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS?
If you have questions or concerns about this recall, please contact Besser at info@besserpro.com or 903-653-4733.
If you have a complaint relative to this recall, you may report it to the following: Administrator
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE
Washington, DC 20590
You may also call the toll-free Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov. If you are no longer the owner of the trailer(s) using the recalled axle, please forward this notice to the new owner or provide the new ownerโs contact information to Besser at the number above so that we can notify the new owner of this recall. What if you are a Lessor? Federal law requires that you forward a copy of this safety recall notice to the lessee within 10 days. What if you have already paid for this repair? You may be eligible to receive a reimbursement for the cost of repairs made prior to receiving this notice. Please contact the trailer manufacturer to determine whether you are eligible for reimbursement. If you purchased your axle directly from Besser Pro, please contact Besser at info@besserpro.com or 903-653-4733 to determine whether you are eligible for reimbursement.
