Cummins Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Cummins B6.7, L9, X12 and X15 engines that were manufactured between May 13, 2022 and June 28, 2022. This notice applies to the engine(s) listed on the enclosed table. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? Your engine is equipped with an Engine Control Module (ECM) that may have a manufacturing defect that could result in an engine stall without warning. An unexpected engine stall without the ability to restart the engine may lead to an increased risk of a crash. WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT THE PROBLEM? Cummins has released Safety Campaign #C2614 CM2450 ECM Replacement Safety Campaign to address this condition by replacing the ECM. This campaign is currently available at Cummins Distributors and authorized Warranty Dealers. The repair will be completed free of charge and most applications will require approximately 1.3 hours to complete. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? Contact the nearest Cummins Distributor or authorized Warranty Dealer to arrange to have this safety action performed on your engine(s). The distributor or dealer will work with you to schedule the best date to complete this repair. No reports of field failures on Paccar vehicles to date. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Paccar will notify owners and dealers, and affected vehicles will have the ECM replaced. Owners who incurred costs to obtain a remedy for the problem addressed by the recall in advance of receiving notification may seek reimbursement through the process outlined in the general reimbursement plan on file. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Remedy components were manufactured after corrective actions were put in place by the supplier, and do not include a serial number within the suspect date range.
