The origin of the incident was linked to the charging port. As of November 13, 2022, we can report that all recalled vehicles have either been repaired, or are under our control and are currently being repaired. We recommend to ground the vehicles until correction. A defective connection will not have the intended mechanical and/or electrical properties. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : If a connection of the charging port is improperly crimped, it may result in higher resistance point(s) in the electric circuit, leading to localized excessive heat dissipation. The risks may be compounded by the nearby presence of air conditioning tubing and refrigerant, which may result in heat damage or even fire. The fire started after the vehicle was plugged to a level 2 AC charging station at the end of the day. An investigation of the circumstances of the incident and of the vehicle was conducted and led us to conclude that the fire originated from the vehicle charging port. On September 8, 2022, it was decided to recall the vehicles having the same charging port installed behind the Ford logo in the front grill. Micro Bird has not received any other report of incident or claim regarding this defect. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Ecotuned will replace the charging port and the air conditioning refrigerant of the recalled vehicles. Owners who have incurred costs to obtain a remedy for the defect addressed by this recall campaign within a reasonable time in advance of notification, may submit their claims to Micro Bird.
