Reduced Braking and Loss of Power Steering Assist
A lost connection with the battery can lead to a loss of power steering assist and reduced braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Lion Electric Company (Lion Electric) is recalling certain 2023-2024 LionC school buses. The controller area network (CAN) connector for the high-voltage battery
number 4 was incorrectly installed, which can allow water to accumulate and cause a lost connection with the battery.
Remedy
Lion Electric will reinstall and replace the CAN connector as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 12, 2024. Owners may contact Lion Electric customer service at 1-855-546-6706. Lion Electric’s number for this recall is R2024-010.

Chronology :
– January 11, 2024: Reported loss of high-voltage distribution on a LionC in the state of Maine.
– January 11, 2024 to June 2024: Investigation into potential causes of loss of high-voltage distribution. Inspection of vehicles in the state of Maine.
– June 14, 2024: Confirmation that the misalignment of the CAN connector increases the risk of water infiltration into the CAN connector and represents a defect with respect to the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations. Recall proposal approved by Lion Electric’s safety committee.
