Quantity 1 – Ultra 2022 truck affected. Quantity 2 – Inferno 2022 trucks affected. Production Dates : JUN 03, 2022 – NOV 29, 2022 VIN Range 1 : Begin : NR End : NR Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : Ingress of water into the handheld remote control for the winch may result in corrosion on the circuit board. Water, and or corrosion on specific locations on the circuit board, may cause the winch to start operating when not intended, or to not turn off when switch button is released. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : Personal injury if winch operates unexpectedly. No injuries have been reported associated with any product failure. No significant property damage other than the winch system, winch mounting brackets and front bumper have been reported as a result of corrosion-related issues. Clackamas Oregon 97015 Country : United States Chronology : On April 10, 2023 – Ferrara Fire received communication from Warn Industrial of a potential issue with remote controls. April 10-12, 2023 – Ferrara Fire identified the potential population, conducted a risk assessment and issued a stop ship. On April 14, 2023 – Escalated the issue to REV Group Management. May 2, 2023 – REV Group Recall Committee approved a voluntary recall for this issue. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-317 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Ferrara Fire will notify customers of the hazard including instructions for inspecting for corrosion and disabling the wireless function to significantly mitigate the hazard. Warn will offer consumers/winch owners a $100 coupon as compensation for the lack of wireless function. The recall only impacts the remote that was included with the winch part number. The winches are not included in the recall. This recall effects the remotes that were included in the following part numbers: 103250 103251 103252 103253 103254 103255 Service part remote 104218.. Anyone that has one of the above stated winches on their vehicles should follow the link we provided they can obtain the new remote. www.warn.com?evo-remote-info. The remote we are sending out for replacement directly to customers that follow the link is only a wired version at this time. All replacement remotes are a different part number than the part number you listed below. 109393 is the part number for the end user remote service kit. 109423 is the part number for the dealer remote service kit. New multi-function remotes will be provided for winches that are sold in the future and will contain a new part numbered remote at the time of the updated and upgraded sale of new winches. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedy component is a corded-only remote (no wireless function) with a different part number than the recalled remote. It will not have a wireless control function, including wireless indicator light and mode switch. The internal circuit board will be fully conformal coated and use sealed switches. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Warn will rework all existing unsold inventory of winches, including distributor and dealer inventories, with a new corded-only remote which will have a conformal coated board and sealed switch components, but without wireless function.
