Summary
Arcimoto Inc. (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2023 FUV and MUV hybrid
electric motorcycles. There may be insufficient thread engagement between the inner and outer tie rods, possibly resulting in the separation of the tie rod assembly.
Remedy
Arcimoto will inspect and adjust the tie rods, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 30, 2023. Owners may contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293.

Chronology :
On September 6, 2023 the Quality Department first discovered and began restricting any vehicles with tie rod LoE measurement out of spec, 51.3mm measured from the jam nut to the groove cut in the inner tie rod. quality restricted non-conforming 002089/003017 couplers and in-process pitman arms (003022/007669). We have added a new requirement to go on the Outgoing Inspector’s checklist to look for this defect specifically on all vehicles moving forward.
On September 8, 2023 the Quality Department and the Engineering Department met to discuss root cause, and how to correct. An investigation is negan immediately.
On September 11, 2023 Quality and Engineering presented findings. to the Executive Safety Committee meeting.
Unanimously voted that the severity of the defect, warranted be a recall.

ELECTRIC Descriptive Information : In accordance with Part 573 of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Arcimoto Inc. hereby reports the presence of a potential safety defect and intends to recall (94) ninety-four vehicles produced between January 1, 2023 and September 6, 2023. Due to all or some of these parts received between June 22, 2022 and December 9, 2022 may have been out of tolerance. The safety risk is inadequate thread length of engagement (LoE) between inner and outer tie-rods, when clocking the splines. Defect occurs when, LoE between inner and outer tie-rods is inadequate, certain compressive forces may cause the separation of the tie-rod assembly, which would make the vehicle more difficult to control and increase the likelihood of a crash.
