Production Dates : NOV 19, 2019 – MAY 22, 2023 VIN Range 1 : Begin : 4RKYL82J4L9777479 End : 4RKYL82J0P977890 ✔ Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : The brackets retaining the Mobile Climate Control Unit could fail due to high mechanical loads. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : In the event that the brackets retaining the Mobile Climate Control Unit fail, the unit may separate from the vehicle, causing an increased risk of injury or crash. Description of the Cause : Insufficient design validation for the actual vehicle conditions. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : There is no warning prior to occurrence. May 18, 2023: Nova Bus started an internal Investigation. June 05, 2023: The issue was raised to the safety forum as a potential risk for evaluation. July 13, 2023: Nova Bus opens a formal potential safety related issue investigation. October 12, 2023: Product Safety Evaluation Committee evaluates and raises to Product Safety Committee. October 19, 2023: Evaluated at Product Safety Committee and further information requested relative to retaining forces. October 26, 2023: Additional information presented to Product Safety Evaluation Committee for evaluation and raised to Product Safety Committee. November 6, 2023: Product Safety Committee determination of product defect. November 11, 2023: Nova Bus files 573 with NHTSA that a voluntary recall will be released to address the safety-related defect. There have been no accidents or injuries related to this defect. There have been four vehicles where a broken bracket was identified during the process of the investigation. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Remedy program will be to perform an inspection of the existing brackets and add additional brackets to provide sufficient design margin. All costs associated with this corrective measure will be covered by Nova Bus. Prenotification remedies will be addressed using the Nova Bus general reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Remedied component will have four additional brackets installed.
