LED Backlight Circuit Board Failure May Cause Fire

Summary
Winnebago Towable (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Micro Minnie, Micro Minnie FLX, Hike 200, and Minnie travel trailers. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.
Remedy
The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 29, 2024. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-574-825-5280 ext. 5220. Winnebago’s number for this recall is CAM0000035.

Issue:
Winnebago Towables has decided that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists on certain 2022-2023 Winnebago models. These vehicles were manufactured February 2022 through April 2023.
The LED backlight circuit boards in Suburban cooktop ranges installed in certain Winnebago vehicles may fail without warning. This failure may potentially lead to overheating of the LED backlight, and in some cases, a thermal event.
Chronology :
In June 2023, Winnebago was notified of two incidents related to melted LED light rings on stove knobs. An investigation was opened and the supplier, Suburban, was notified.
Winnebago continued to meet with the supplier over the next few months, working together to try and understand scope of the issue.. In January 2024, Winnebago escalated the issue to the Product Safety Committee. On January 26, 2024, the Product Safety Committee determined that the issue presents an unreasonable risk to safety.
Winnebago is aware of 6 thermal incidents that it believes may relate to the recall condition. Winnebago has received claims/notices regarding these incidents on the following dates: 9/8/2022, 6/15/2023, 6/23/2023, 9/7/2023, 10/6/2023, and 1/9/2023
Of those incidents, Winnebago is aware of 0 death or injuries.

Repair Information:
The remedy is still under development. Once the remedy is complete the instructions will be posted to the Winnebago Dealer Portal.
Owner Notification:
Winnebago Towables anticipates notifying owners by the end of March.
Owner Precautions:
Owners should be aware of any abnormal functioning of the backlit cooktop knobs and notify their dealer if there are any concerns. In addition, owners should de-energize the trailer when not in use.
Dealer Responsibility:
Do not deliver any subject trailer until corrective action has been taken. All vehicles subject to this campaign are to be serviced at no charge to the owners regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership from this time forward.
Important Reminder: It is a violation of federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification until the noncompliance is remedied.
