Improperly Tightened Nut May Cause Electrical Arc

A loose nut can cause electrical arcing or overheating, increasing the risk of a fire.

Summary

Forest RivereBay logo, Inc. (Forest RivereBay logo) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Dynamax Isata motorhomes. The nut on the backside of the main 12V disconnect may have been improperly tightened.

 

Remedy

Dealers will replace the 12V disconnect, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2024. Owners may contact Forest RivereBay logo Customer Service at 1-574-264-3474. Forest RivereBay logo’s number for this recall is 55-1751.

RECALL 24V202 / 2024-172 REMEDY INSTRUCTIONS

Concern:
The nut on the backside of the Main 12V Disconnect may have been inconsistently tightened.

Turn off LP Gas at LPG Tank(s). Place vehicle in (P) Park and engage the Parking Brake. Disconnect the vehicles’ battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power. Block any tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.

CERTAIN 2023 – 2025: ISC24FWSFXM, ISC24FWSFXM, ISC24FWSFXMCD & ISC24FWSFXMCD

USE A 12V METER TO ENSURE POWER IS COMPLETELY OFF AT THE LUGS TURN OFF THE SOLAR DISCONNECT

STEP 1: LOCATE THE MAIN 12V SERVICE DISCONNECT (FIGURE 1);

  • REMOVE AND DISCARD THE FASTENERS, THEY WILL BE TO LONG TO REUSE;

STEP 2: REMOVE THE 12V CABLES HOOKED TO THE STUD(S) ON THE DISCONNECT;

STEP 3: INSTALL THE NEW DISCONNECT;

  • FASTEN THE NEW 12V SERVICE DISCONNECT TO IN PLACE OF THE OLD DISCONNECT WITH #8 X 1/2″ WOOD SCREWS (4);
  • PLACE THE CABLE THAT WAS ON THE LEFT STUD OF THE OLD DISCONNECT ON THE LEFT STUD OF THE NEW DISCONNECT;
  • PLACE THE OTHER LARGE CABLE AND SMALL CABLE THAT WERE REMOVED FROM THE RIGHT STUD OF THE OLD DISCONNECT ON THE RIGHT STUD OF THE NEW DISCONNECT;
  • ORIENTATE THE CABLES AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2;

STEP 4: TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS TO 80 INCH LBS.;

STEP 5: SNAP COVER ONTO THE BASE;

STEP 6: TEST FOR PROPER FUNCTIONALITY;

STEP 7: CLAIM REPAIR CODE.

This notice is sent in accordance with the requirements of the United States’ National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest RivereBay logo has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2023-2024 Dynamax Isata Class C Motorhome Recreational Vehicles. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.

 

WHAT IS THE DEFECT?

The nut on the backside of the Main 12V Disconnect may have been inconsistently tightened. If the nut is loose on the stud of the disconnect, the wires may arc and overheat.

 

EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.

If the nut is loose on the stud of the disconnect, the wires may arc and overheat. This condition may lead to a fire and property damage.

 

WHAT IS FOREST RIVEReBay logo AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?

Forest RivereBay logo is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest RivereBay logo dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest RivereBay logo completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.

 

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. The remedy will include replacing the 12V disconnect. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest RivereBay logo of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy. You may also visit www.forestriverinc.com for dealer locations.

 

HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?

The estimated time of repair is .50 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.

 

WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?

If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized.

Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for within the scope of this defect under recall.

Chronology :

On March 12, 2024, Forest RivereBay logo’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) was notified by the manufacturing plant of a concern they discovered with the 12V Main Disconnect Switch nut potentially being loose in certain applications. OCC opened a research item.

On March 15, 2024, Forest RivereBay logo’s Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall. A Stop Sale Notice will be issued immediately following the filing of this recall.
