Entry Door may Open Unexpectedly
If the door opens while moving it can increase the risk of injury or a crash.
Summary
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2019 Forest River Berkshire motorhomes. The affected vehicles have entry doors with latch rods that may be improperly adjusted, allowing the door to open while moving.
Remedy
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will readjust the door latch rod, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in October 2018. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-522-1368. Forest River’s number for this recall is 40-0853.

Model “3000” and “7000” Entry Door Latch Rod Adjustment Procedure
* Before beginning the adjustment procedure function the outer handle to determine the travel distance. The travel on the handle before it releases the latch should be at least % of the total distance. If the travel is at least % of the distance no further adjustment is needed. If it is not, then proceed to step one.
- Start the procedure by opening the door and removing the black plastic plug with a flat tip screwdriver, located just below the rotary latch on the edge of the door.
- Using a 7/16″ deep socket rotate the lock nut located behind the plug counterclockwise if the rotary releases too easily or clockwise if it doesn’t release easily enough.
- This procedure should be done with the door in the open position by manually closing the rotary and making the adjustments until the outside handle travels % of the distance before the rotary releases.
- Test the function by closing and releasing the rotary several times with both the outside and inside handle before closing the door.
- Replace the black plastic plug and the adjustment is complete.
