Descriptive Information : The recall population includes certain Model Year 2024 R1T and R1S vehicles that may have been built without an air bag label on the dashboard. The suspect period began on February 19, 2024, when Rivian started to build vehicles that may be missing the label and ended on March 08, 2024, when Rivian stopped building vehicles that may have been missing the label. That population was determined using manufacturing records.
Similar vehicles not included in this recall had the dashboard and air bag label installed through a different process or were inspected and the label was confirmed present before delivery. Production Dates : FEB 20, 2024 – MAR 05, 2024

The label need not be permanently affixed to the vehicle.” Some vehicles built during the suspect period were not equipped with the required label. On April 4, 2024, Rivian conducted a vehicle production audit and identified a vehicle with a missing dashboard air bag label.
On April 25, 2024, the Rivian Field Performance Engineering team was made aware of the missing label and an investigation began.
From April 25, 2024, to May 1, 2024, Rivian conducted the investigation and identified the potentially affected vehicles.
On May 02, 2024, Rivian determined that a potential noncompliance to FMVSS 208, Occupant crash protection cannot be ruled out. As of the date of this filing, Rivian is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue in any market. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Rivian will mail the affected owners a representative copy of the required
label within the owner notification letter.
Rivian is committed to reimbursing owners for previous out-of-pocket repairs according to the plan submitted to the agency on May 10, 2022; however, systems affected by this recall are covered under Rivian’s new vehicle limited warranties. Rivian only began releasing vehicles to customers at the end of 2021. As no owners of these vehicles would have reached the end of the warranty period and therefore not incurred expenses for the warranted repair as a result of this condition, no notification regarding reimbursement under section 577.11 is necessary. Rivian has a policy and practice of reimbursing owners who have paid for a repair that subsequently becomes the subject of a field action. To ensure consistency, Rivian, as part of the owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the expense. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : This recall is not related to a part defect, but rather an assembly issue. The remedy is to notify all affected vehicle owners.

Description of Recall Schedule : On or before June 21, 2024. As a direct-to consumer manufacturer, Rivian
owns and operates all of the Company’s sales and service operations. As all “dealers” are Rivian owned entities, notification will be through internal means to our licensed store and service operations addressing this recall on or before the date set forth in this response.
