Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Chronology :
On April 12, 2024, Altec identified units in production that had contact between the feeder tube and the cylinder rest bracket. Altec Quality Assurance initiated an investigation to determine the root cause, scope, and affected units. On April 17, 2024, a hold was placed on all production units until the investigation was complete. Production changes were made on April 25, 2024, to remedy all units contained at the plant and future production. On May 6, 2024, a potential field action investigation was opened to determine if units in the field could have the specific supplier cylinder where the feeder tube could contact the bracket. After reviewing the production and supplier records on May 17, 2024, Altec determined that a potential defect could exist on certain LR7 and LR8 units. There were no warranty claims or field reports identified. There have been no accidents, injuries, or deaths related to this issue.

Description of Remedy Program : Replacing the current ยฝ inch tall cylinder rest pad with a new 1-inch tall
rest pad will provide sufficient clearance for the specific cylinders. For units with a damaged feeder tube, a new cylinder and 1-inch rest pad would be provided. When presented for repair, the recall remedy will be completed free of charge. The Altec Warranty Policy covers the recall remedy, including cases requiring reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production :
A 1-inch tall rest pad is ยฝ an inch taller than the original one installed. This will allow the cylinder to rest ยฝ an inch higher and create sufficient space between the feeder tube and bracket.
The cylinder rest bracket was revised to create more clearance between it and the cylinder, eliminating any potential interferences. The cylinder manufacturer is moving the retract port location on the feeder tube 7/8 inch to match the port location of other suppliers, creating additional clearance. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Altec will issue CSN-3159 to the owners of the affected units. Altec does
not have a dealer network and issues letters to owners only.
