Truck Dump Body may Fall

If the lifting mechanism fails, the truck body could fall quickly, increasing the risk of an injury to those nearby.

Summary

M H EBY is recalling certain 2017-2020 EBY Truck Body dump vehicles. The cotter pin that secures the hoist cylinder may detach possibly causing the dump body to fall unexpectedly.

 

Remedy

M H EBY will notify owners, and dealers will remove the cotter pin and replace it with a secure bolt with a locking nut, free of charge. The recall began September 25, 2020. Owners may contact M H EBY customer service at 1-717-354-4971.

IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL 20V-117

 

Dear Sir or Madam:

 

This not ice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

 

M. H EBY has decided that a potential safety defect exists in certain hydraulic hoists provided by Harsh International Company. Accordingly a recall to address this issue is being initiated effective March 8, 2019.

 

The defect involves a cotter pin which maybe undersized and or incorrectly installed in hydraulic hoists manufactured by  Harsh International Company  between February  2017 and February 2020. This may result  in cotter pin falling out causing  t he  cross shaft to shift allowing for the top of the hoist to disengage causing a piston failure. Attached please find detailed instruct ion of the inspection process and installation of the bolt and nut. M H EBY will supply to the owner of the truck body all replacement parts. There is no cost to the owner for this recall. In the event your current service facility cannot attend to this in a timely manner,. Please contact M H EBY Warranty department at 717-354-1458 to make arrangements for an inspection and repair.

 

To be reimbursed for your expense to have the hoist checked and the cotter pin replaced with a bolt and locking nut you must submit a paid receipt to:
