Improperly tightened spindle nuts may cause excessive axle vibration and overheat the bearings, affecting vehicle control, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Inland Empire Trailers (Inland Empire) is recalling all 2021 Inland Empire (IE) trailers. The spindle nuts on the axles may have been improperly tightened during assembly.
Remedy
Inland Empire will inspect the spindle nuts and bearings, tighten the spindle nuts and replace the bearings as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Feb. 21, 2022. Owners may contact Inland Empire at 1-909-999-5422.

Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : We mandate manual inspection of each spindle nut assembly (2 per axle) to ensure proper torqueing and, in the event that a spindle nut requires torqueing to meet prescribed standards, we provide detailed instructions and, for axles that have been in operation on a moving trailer and experience vibration, we will require the technician to confirm that the bearings have not been impacted and the axle is properly greased. In the event that bearings have been affected, we make provision for replacement of these bearings done, free of charge. Reimbursement would be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty program. For axles that have been in operation on a moving trailer and experience vibration. The axle spindle nuts and the bearings will be inspected and if require replacement will be done, free of charge. Reimbursement would be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty program. No repairs for this Terran Axle issue has been reported to date. A reimbursement plan for repairs completed before the launch of this recall is not necessary as the units would have been repaired under Inland Empire’s original warranty program.
