Summary
Alliance RV, LLC (Alliance) is recalling certain 2023 Paradigm and Valor travel trailers. The electric retractable awning has a welded seam on the fabric that may separate, potentially allowing the awning to drop beyond normal operation.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect for any weld separation and replace the awnings, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 17, 2022. Owners may contact Alliance customer service at (574) 226-0140.

Our records show the following unit(s) are affected by this recall and is currently part of the inventory at your Dealership. The Recall Remedy must be completed on this unit prior to being sold.

Alliance RV was made aware that a number of awnings manufactured and distributed by Lippert
Components were manufactured that the welded seam t the fabric to coach interface can separate causing the awning to come loose form the RV potentially causing property damage or personal injury.
What Alliance RV will do:
Alliance RV will reimburse authorized service providers to perform the necessary inspection and, if needed, repair of the fabric portion of these electric awnings. An inspection will take approximately .20hrs while a repair will take .30hrs and a full fabric replacement 1.5hrs.
What we need you to do:
Inspect the awning for the defect. If the defect exists action must be taken in repair or replacement. The instructions provided with this letter will guide you thru the appropriate action. A warranty claim can then be filed with Alliance RV.
Federal law requires that all units in your inventory be repaired prior to delivery to a customer. If you have sold a unit recently that you have received a stock recall notice on, please contact the owner immediately to advise of the recall. In addition, please register the unit by submitting the Warranty Registration information via the Alliance RV Dealer Portal (contact us at [email protected] if you need instructions on how to do so).

Purpose
The purpose of this document Is to provide guidance, as well as visual aides, to dealers performing inspection on units that may have insufficient awning weld(s). The inspection point is at the awning fabric seam at the awning rail at the wall of the unit (Fig. 1). This only affects awnings manufactured January 17, 2022 – June 14, 2022. The date of manufacture can be located on the variant code label {Fig. 2) located on the awning.
Safety
This document provides general instructions. Many variables can change the circumstances of any procedure, i.e. the degree of difficulty involved in the service operation and the ability level of the individual performing the operation. This document cannot begin to plot out procedures for every possibility, but will provide the general instructions for effectively installing, removing or servicing the system. In the event the skill level required is too advanced or the procedure too difficult, a certified technician should be consulted before performing the necessary operation. Failure to correctly install, remove or service the system may result in voiding the warranty, inflicting injury or even death.

Instructions
1. Position stepladder next to the unit to view the topside of the awning at the unit wall from either end (drive/idler side).
2. Inspect the weld near the awning rail (Fig. 3A).
A. Fig.3 shows no separation at the seam. It does not require repair or replacement.
B. Fig.3 shows separation at the seam (Fig. 4A).
I. If the separation is less than 6 inches, repair can be accomplished using the procedure described in TI-434.
II. If the separation is over 6 inches it will require awning fabric replacement using the procedure described in TI-166.
All inspections and repairs must be documented with the following information:
- Full unit information, inducing 17-digit VIN, Make/Model/Floorplan and Date of Manufacture
- Clear photo of the awning tag
- Photos documenting any weld separation concerns

At that point, the following Monday (7/18/2022), i put the yard on HOLD and had everything here in scope stopped and repaired. I was notified upon the notification from Lippert
that they had bene thru our inventory to inspect for faulty product (uninstalled awnings), none was found. Our yard units were fixed (as well as units that had already shipped and were at the transporter. If it does not exist, the awning fabric is “ok”. If separation is found and is less than 6 inches, a repair takes place. Anything over 6 inches requires fabric replacement. The repair on “repairable” fabrics is an adhesive to repair the seam. Instructions available. Alliance RV will be providing explicit inspection and reporting instruction to the owners via the owners notification on how to inspect the awning for the defect. They will be required to provide us with pictures to validate the results. these results will be documented in our system to satisfy the recall to comply with quarterly reporting. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The seam on the remedied component is not separated once repaired. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Bad product was isolated and is not being used. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Alliance RV received recall notice, created 573 with NHTSA. Affected units on site were corrected before shipping. Alliance RV has now drafted it’s letters and submitted them. Upon approval of the retail letter, Alliance RV will be sending letters out to dealers and owners for remedy.
