Chronology :
“On 8/4/2022, Cummins
contacted Rosenbauer
alerting them of a recall impacting 7 engines we purchased for our Rosenbauer
chassis. The ESNs were provided and matched up to the VINs that same day and verified on Friday 8/5/2022. The list was sent back to Cummins
and Production at Rosenbauer
was alerted. The engines were not installed in trucks yet and were located on Monday 8/8/2022 at Rosenbauer
Motors (Chassis) Plant in MN. Cummins
White Bear Lake was notified and Cummins
Corporate shipped replacement ECMs to Cummins
WBL. The Cummins
tech came to Rosenbauer
Motors on 8/10/2022 and successfully replaced the ECMs on all but 1 engine for Rosenbauer
chassis.
On Monday 8/8/2022, Cummins
alerted Rosenbauer
of the Commercial chassis that were impacted as well per their report on shipped engines to Daimler Trucks
. On Wednesday 8/10/2022, those ESNs and VINs were matched up and 4 more have been added to the population. Because these trucks are assumed to be in Production, they were alerted Thursday 8/11/2022 to locate the chassis. Rosenbauer
fully expects more Commercial trucks to be added and will need to file an amendment as information is acquired. However, we have notified Cummins
Sioux Falls to replace the ECMs since the trucks are located at our Lyons, SD plant.
As of 9/13/22, all trucks were remedied while in Production at Rosenbauer
prior to any delivery or shipment
to customers.

Letter to Rosenbauer_22E-063 Notification 04AUG22.pdf Hello Valued Rosenbauer
Dealers, We have submitted our initial paperwork to NHTSA and Transport Canada regarding an upcoming recall initiated by Cummins
for X12, X15
and L9
Engines that could have defective ECMs resulting in an unexpected stall of the engine. We have a total of 17 trucks impacted thus far for the US and Canada but note: all will be remedied prior to leaving Rosenbauer
unless we find out more trucks are involved. I have attached the notification letter we received from Cummins
which will describe the safety risk. You can also access the US recall filing from Rosenbauer
at this link. At this time, we know we will be making a revision to our impacted make and models since we were still gathering information at the time of the recall. The Cummins
recall is not live in QuickServe Online since Rosenbauer
was given special approval to remedy our trucks before some of the general population. If you ask your Cummins
representative about the recall, they may not know about it. This email is to provide an informal notification. If all recalled trucks are remedied in Production, we are not required to formally notify the customers, but we will update our Dealers with an email. We will also enter the SRS tickets to track what was remedied. There is a small chance that the population will expand beyond the 17 trucks so if that happens, we will follow the proper procedures regarding notification with a remedy plan. Feel free to reach out should you have any questions regarding recalls or technical service bulletins at [email protected]. Thank you, Lisa Sampson Rosenbauer
