Today, in partnership with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Health Canada, Thule Group is issuing a voluntary recall of the following bike carriers manufactured with the below date codes as a precautionary action:
Thule Range – Date code 05/02/22 through 07/26/22 Thule Camber 2 Bike – Date code 04/14/22 through 06/23/22 Thule Camber 4 bike – Date code 03/31/22 through 06/23/22
Unfortunately, we have determined that when the bike carrier is in use a weld on the arm assembly can crack and fail. There is a risk that bike carrier arm assembly may become detached from the bike carrier if the safety strap or locking cable is not used. This could cause a vehicle crash or injure nearby pedestrians.

Chronology :
The Thule Camber was launched in the Americas in February 2019. The Thule Range was launched in the Americas in April 2019.
The Thule Camber has been sold in two different version:
905800: Thule Camber 2 bike
905600: Thule Camber 4 bike
The Thule Range has been sold in one version : 905700 only 2022-08-16: Received one complaint of Thule Range bike arm assembly detaching from the bike carrier rack. No accidents, injuries or fatalities were reported, only personal property damage occurred. Started investigation and requested product back for more in-depth analysis.
2022-09-08: Received second complaint of Thule Range bike arm assembly detaching from the bike carrier rack. No accidents, injuries or fatalities were reported, only personal property damage occurred. Continued investigation and requested product back for more in-depth analysis.
2022-09-12: An Internal risk evaluation was initiated. Decision to initiate complete enhanced test program to understand problem and attempt to replicate failure. Production was stopped. Internal stop of sale and quarantine was initiated.
2022-10-05: Decision to initiate product recall on affected population of Thule Camber and Thule Range from the market and offer replacement.
2022:10-07: Stop of sale was initiated with retailers and dealers.

Hazard: Due to a manufacturing defect, when the bike carrier is in use, a weld on the arm assembly can crack and fail. If the safety strap or locking cable is not used, the bike arm assembly can become detached from the bike carrier, which could cause a vehicle crash or injure nearby pedestrians.

Description of Remedy Program : Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Thule
to register for a free of charge replacement bike mast assembly to be shipped directly to the consumer. Once registered, Thule will reach out to coordinate logistics to take possession of the recalled bike carrier, free of charge. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Remedied product will have a manufacturing date code with a date of October 2022 or later on the product number and date code label.
