We apologize for this situation and want to assure you that, with your assistance, we will correct this condition should it exist. What is the issue? On your trailer, it may be possible that the 2(5/16)” A-Frame Coupler was not fully welded by the manufacturer of the coupler. There are 3 welds on the underside of the coupler that may have been tack welded instead of solid welded. What is the risk? The welds on the underside of the coupler could break causing possible disconnect with tow vehicle increasing the risk of a crash. What should you do? Inspect the underside of your coupler without delay. Please see enclosed pictures of both correct and incorrect welds from the manufacturer for reference. We have received 0 warranty claims. 11/14/22 – contacting dealers with purchased units to determine the units that have sold or are still on their location. Will send out recall letters to all retail customers who have purchased possibly affected units based upon this information. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Recall letters with information on defect will be mailed to retail customers who may be affected by the defective coupler. Quality Trailers will repair defect free of charge to the customers at our location in Salem, OH. If repairs were done by the customer prior to us sending the recall notice, we will reimburse them for the cost incurred up to $150.00 per affected trailer. A receipt and pictures of the defect must be received by Quality Trailers to receive a reimbursement for repairs done by anyone other than Quality Trailers. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedy component will have solid welds where the defective component will only be spot welded in the 3 locations identified by the coupler’s manufacturer. Dealers were contacted regarding any units delivered prior to our notification of the defect. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Dealers will be contacted again (first contact 3/11/22 with no responses) on 11/14/22 with a list of units that may be potentially affected by the coupler recall requesting customer information for each of the customers attached to each unit. Upon receiving this information, we will send recall letters to each of the retail customers on 11/21/22.
