We have corrected the defect on the production line, since November 3rd Production Dates : JAN 01, 2020 – NOV 03, 2022 VIN Range 1 : Begin : NR End : NR Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : During the assembly of the axle, we found that the fasteners that hold the adjusting rings were not consistently tightened to the required torque on the passenger side, which could lead to the introduction of play into the assembly. These missed adjustment steps could cause premature wear of the suspension and differential components. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : In this situation, the right-side suspension could fail and separate from the truck frame, resulting in a loss of control of the rear of the vehicle. The probability of the identified failure is rated as “unlikely”. However, the impacts of such a failure could represent a human safety issue and would likely cause an accident. Lion Electric Company has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2020-2022 Lion6 and Lion8 vehicles. Description of the defect We found during axle assembly that the fasteners that hold the suspension alignment rings were not consistently assembled to the required torque on the passenger side, which could lead to the introduction of play in the assembly. These missed adjustment steps could cause premature wear of the suspension and differential components. The suspension could separate from the frame, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective measures and precautions A team of technicians will be dispatched by Lion Electric to properly tighten the bolts on the adjustment rings. Hardware will be replaced as needed. If an anomaly is detected, you must contact The Lion Electric immediately at this toll-free number: 1 855 546-6706 ext.: 229 and not use the identified vehicle. Following your report of the defect to Lion Electric, they will contact you shortly to determine the date to perform the service.
