Summary
Lion Electric Company (Lion) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Lion6 and Lion8 vehicles. The rear axle adjusting ring fasteners were not tightened properly on the passenger-side, which can cause premature wear on the suspension and differential components.
Remedy
Lion will inspect and tighten the fasteners as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 16, 2023. Owners may contact Lion’s customer service at 1-855-546-6706.

Chronology :
Quality inspectors issued an alert regarding 2 trucks on the production line with the quick fit nut not being tightened enough.
The existence of a safety defect was confirmed the 25th of November 2022, following a detailed investigation by the quality and engineering department. Preventive measure was introduced in production the 3rd of November although investigation and confirmation of the safety defect was not completed.
Service department checked the 8 Lion6’s that were in inventory and 4 of them needed the nut on the passenger side tightened.
To this day (2023-01-12), there is no warranty claim raised by the customers related to this issue.

Lion Electric Company has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2020-2022 Lion6 and Lion8 vehicles. Description of the defect We found during axle assembly that the fasteners that hold the suspension alignment rings were not consistently assembled to the required torque on the passenger side, which could lead to the introduction of play in the assembly. These missed adjustment steps could cause premature wear of the suspension and differential components. The suspension could separate from the frame, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective measures and precautions A team of technicians will be dispatched by Lion Electric to properly tighten the bolts on the adjustment rings. Hardware will be replaced as needed. If an anomaly is detected, you must contact The Lion Electric immediately at this toll-free number: 1 855 546-6706 ext.: 229 and not use the identified vehicle. Following your report of the defect to Lion Electric, they will contact you shortly to determine the date to perform the service.
