Cooktop Gas Valves May Fracture Causing Gas Leak
A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Summary
Par Nado Inc (Par Nado) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Alto R1713, R1723, F1743, F2114, A2124, and F2414 travel trailers equipped with certain SDS2 2-burner drop-in cooktops. The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves may fracture and cause a gas leak.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the burner tubes, and repair, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 23, 2023. Owners may contact Par Nado customer service at 1-418-426-3666. Par Nado’s number for this recall is 2023-001.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Open glass lid.
2. Remove (4) black glass bumpers from each corner of the appliance.

3. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the screws under each bumper. This will retract the clamping mechanism that attaches the cooktop to the countertop.
4. Close glass lid.
5. Lift cooktop free of countertop and place bottom side up on soft working surface.
6. Remove heat shield from bottom of appliance, setting heat shield, screws, and washers aside.
7. Clean bottom of main top near regulator with a 50/50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water.
8. Peel red liner from tape on bottom of bracket assembly (064351).

9. Place bracket assembly over regulator and align screw holes. (Ensure regulator mounting surface is parallel to bottom of main top.)
10. Attach bracket to regulator with two screws (122292).
11. Apply force of 15 lbs. minimum to regulator bracket to firmly adhere VHB tape. (Minimum application temperature of 50°F. If necessary, heat tape and application surfaces prior to adhesion.)
12. Reinstall heat shield using retained screws and washers.
13. Cover “3031AST” with sticker (194460) or cover “3032AST” with sticker (194462) on large heat shield sticker. Clean oily residue as required for proper label adhesion.
14. Turn unit over and open glass lid.
15. Remove both burner control knobs.
16. Using needle nose pliers, remove top nut securing the left valve to the main top. Your cooktop may have one or two nuts securing each gas valve.
17. Tighten bottom nut if your cooktop had two nuts on each gas valve.

18. Snip tip of Loctite 243 (410350) and apply one drop of threadlocker to approximately 2nd valve thread if each valve has two nuts. Apply one drop of threadlocker to approximately the 4th thread if each valve has only one nut.
19. Install top nut and torque to 20 in-lb.
20. Reinstall control knob.
21. Repeat steps 16 through 20 for the right control.
22. Reinstallation of unit is reverse of removal. (Steps 1-5)

24. This completes the recall remedy steps.

Vehicle Safety Act.
Par Nado inc has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain
2021-2024 Alto models R1713, R1723, F1743, F2114, A2124 and F2414 travel trailers equipped
with a Suburban SDS2 Drop-In Cooktop.
We apologize for this situation and want to assure you that, with your assistance, this condition
will be corrected. Our commitment is to provide with the best possible level of service and
support.
What is the issue?
Suburban Manufacturing is recalling the Suburban SDS2 2-Burner Drop-In Cooktops that
were installed on Alto travel trailers from approximately September 2020 – November
2022. The internal aluminum burner tubes connecting the gas valves to the cooktop
burners can fracture from excessive vibration or shock experienced through travel. The
burner tube could crack resulting in a leak of propane when the gas valve is opened to
use the appliance. If ignited the propane could result in a fire and/or explosion which
could result in personal injury.
What to do until the defect is corrected?
Discontinue use of the cooktop until the correction of the defect has been completed in
your vehicle.

Description of the Defect : Par Nado inc is recalling certain 2022-2024 Alto trailers equipped with the SDS2 2 burner drop-in cooktop. The internal burner tubes that connect the gas valves may fracture aand causee a gas leak.

Description of the Safety Risk : The burner tube could crack resulting in a leak of propane when the top
burner gas valve is opened to use the appliance. If ignited the propane could result in fire and or explosion which could result in personal injury.
Description of the Cause : The gas manifoldd at the control knobs can become loose over time due to excessive vibration. With excessive vibration the burner tubes can fail. Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur : The owner could possibly hear a louder than normal hissing sound or smell propane odor when the cooktop gas vaalve is urned to the ON position. The flame height could seem lower than normal. The control knob of the cooktop

Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : NR While Suburban Manufacturing CO was investigating the two incidents of gas leaks on stoves reported by Par Nado inc., thee manufacturer decided to stop using the Suburban SDS2 2 burner drop in cooktop as a prevention in case of an eventual recall. Description of the Defect : Par Nado inc is recalling certain 2022-2024 Alto trailers equipped with the SDS2 2 burner drop-in cooktop. The internal burner tubes that connect the gas valves may fracture aand causee a gas leak.

Description of the Safety Risk : The burner tube could crack resulting in a leak of propane when the top
burner gas valve is opened to use the appliance. If ignited the propane could result in fire and or explosion which could result in personal injury.
Description of the Cause : The gas manifoldd at the control knobs can become loose over time due to excessive vibration. With excessive vibration the burner tubes can fail. Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur : The owner could possibly hear a louder than normal hissing sound or smell propane odor when the cooktop gas vaalve is urned to the ON position. The flame height could seem lower than normal. The control knob of the cooktop

02/08/2023 Par Nado inc. receives notice of recall for the SDS2 cooktop. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : In collaboration with Suburban Manufacturing CO Par Nado inc is asking
customers affected by the recall to contact Suburban Customer Service at 423-775-2131 ext 7101 or Par Nado inc at 1-866-806-3666. Suburban will arrange for a regulator support bracket kit to be shipped to the dealer closest to your location. Dealer must have a certified gas appliance technician onsite to do the work. This remedy will be done free of charge and is available since March 13 2023. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedy reinforces the existing component by adding a bracket.
