Accompanying this instruction sheet are two (2) labels to be affixed to the interior wall of your vehicle’s cab. This page explains where to place the labels.*
These labels are replacement certification labels. It is important that you place the corrected labels on top of the old labels, or remove the old labels entirely first and then place the corrected labels in the same location.
Instructions:
1.
Locate the certification labels within your vehicle’s cab. In most vehicles, these labels are affixed to the wall behind the driver’s seat.
2.
Identify the appropriate upper label by finding the Body ID Number and VIN at the bottom of the label. Remove the backing from the label. Place this label on top of the old label.
3.
If applicable, identify the Vehicle Noise Emission Control Information label. Remove the backing from the label. Place this label on top of the old label.*

This notice applies to your vehicle, VIN .
Dear Valued Xos SV05 Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Xos, Inc. has decided that certain Model Year 2021-2022 Xos SV05 Stepvan vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120 “Tire Selection and Rims for Motor Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars.” Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles. We apologize for this situation and want to assure you that, with your assistance, we will correct this condition. Our commitment is to provide you with the highest level of service and support.
What is the issue?
The gross axle weight rating of the front axle was misidentified on the certification labels due to an oversight in the engineering process.
What is the risk?
Overloading over time could cause excessive tire wear and could lead to tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
What will Xos do?
Xos has included replacement certification labels listing the correct gross axle weight rating, free of charge. Remedy labels list the correct front gross axle weight rating.
What should you do?

The tire and loading information label on certain 2021-2022 SV05 Stepvan vehicles has an incorrect front gross axleweight rating. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standardnumbers 120, “Wheels and Rims-Other than Passenger Car,” and 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”
Xos will mail replacement labels to owners and dealers, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to bemailed to customers the week of March 21, 2023.
This recall applies to the following VINs in your inventory:
Please be reminded that under 49 U.S.C. § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer,or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safetystandards.

Descriptive Information : The recall population was determined by production records. The recalled products differ from other products that were not included in the recall because, in a certain production period, vehicles may have been produced with a Part 567 Compliance Label with an incorrect front gross axle weight rating.

Xos has determined that in certain Xos Stepvans the front gross axle weight rating may exceed the sum of the maximum load ratings of the front tires. This constitutes a noncompliance with FMVSS 120, S5.1.2, which specifies, in part, that “the sum of the maximum load ratings of the tires fitted to an axle shall be not less than the gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of the axle system as specified on the vehicle’s certification label required by 49 CFR part 567.” FMVSS 1 : 120 – Wheels and rims- other than passenger cars FMVSS 2 : 567 – Certification

On or around January 15, 2023, an Xos engineer identified a discrepancy between the front gross axle weight rating shown on the SV05 Part 567 Compliance Label and the rating of the front tires. The front gross axle weight rating on the SV05 Part 567 Compliance Label was listed as 10,000 lbs. The weight rating for the front tires is 4,940 lbs. each. The issue was reported to Xos’s engineering team and an evaluation of the issue was commenced. On February 17, 2023, the topic was presented to Xos’s Product Safety Committee. Based upon the information presented, the Product Safety Committee decided to initiate a recall to address this condition. To date, there have been no warranty claims and no reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Xos will send replacement Part 567 Compliance Labels listing the correct
gross axle weight rating to impacted customers. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Remedy labels list the correct front gross axle weight rating. The maximum front gross axle weight rating was changed to 9,000 lbs. in production vehicles shipped after 2/13/2023.
