Keystone RV Company has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model
2022-2023 Cougar Travel Trailers. As a result, Keystone RV is conducting a safety recall. We apologize for any
inconvenience this action may cause you; however your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance
to us.
It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population may not have an egress window installed
in the main living area. If an emergency situation arises, the occupants of the vehicle would not have
a secondary emergency exit other than the entrance door, which could result in an increased risk of
personal injury.
Keystone representatives have been in contact with the staff at your selling dealership regarding this
situation. The remedy is inspect the window installed in the rear wall to determine if the emergency
exit window is installed. If there is no emergency exit window, install the correct window 437572.
The service and parts required for this corrective action will be provided at no charge to you.

Inspect the existing window installed in the rear wall to determine if an emergency exit window was
installed. If there is an “EXIT” window installed please take a picture of the complete window and
email it to [email protected] with the last 8 digits of your vehicle identification number (VIN)
in the subject line to close the recall. If you are not comfortable doing that or if there is no emergency
exit window, contact your dealer and make an appointment to have one installed. As soon as
possible, please make an appointment to have your RV serviced by your dealership. The labor time
to perform this correction is approximately 1 hour. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how
much additional time will be needed to schedule and process your RV for this repair.

Your dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to ensure your RV is corrected as
promptly as possible. Please contact Keystone Customer service if your dealer is unable to assist or

condition within a reasonable amount of time, or without charge to you. You may be eligible to
receive reimbursement if you paid to have the defect resolved prior to receiving this correspondence.

Cougar 33RLI Egress Window
Keystone is conducting a voluntary RECALL notification campaign in accordance with the National Highway Transportation and Safety Act. It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population may not have an egress window installed in the main living area. If an emergency situation arises the occupants of the vehicle would not have a secondary emergency exit other than the entrance door, which could result in an increased risk of personal injury.

Parts Required: 1 – KRV # 437572 – Window – 72″ x 35″ – PS/TBAR – Gray 20 – Temp – Black – 20″ Red (Exit) – 8800-44036 (This part may be ordered in bulk without a VIN)
20’ – KRV # 299894- Seal – .500″ x .312″ – EPDM – Ribbed – w/Tape H3 – Black – 1000’/Bx (This part may be ordered in bulk without a VIN)

This Safety Advisory requires a Pre-Authorization & Photograph
Note – Check serial number on Key Express to verify the campaign is open. Some vehicles were repaired before they left Keystone.
When performing warranty or recall service, please make certain that appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used.
The remedy is to verify that an emergency exit window is installed. If not take a picture of the incorrect window and replace it with KRV # 437572 – Window – 72″ x 35″ – PS/TBAR – Gray 20 – Temp – Black – 20″ Red (Exit) – 8800-44036.
REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 Locate the trailer on a level, flat, hard surface. Chock the wheels.
Step 2 Inspect the rear window to verify that it is an emergency exit window. If it is, proceed to Warranty Reimbursement. If it is not an emergency exit window, proceed to Step 3.
Step 3 Take a picture of the incorrect window and replace it with KRV # 437572 – Window – 72″ x 35″ – PS/TBAR – Gray 20 – Temp – Black – 20″ Red (Exit) – 8800-44036. Use 20’ – KRV # 299894- Seal – .500″ x .312″ – EPDM – Ribbed – w/Tape H3 – Black – 1000’/Bx to seal the window to the rear wall.
Step 4 Proceed to warranty reimbursement.

2/17/2023 – Report was made that during an audit, it was discovered that a Cougar 33RLI did not have an egress window in the living area.
2/21/2023 – Investigation opened. All affected Cougar 33RLI units were put on hold and windows were inspected. Investigation opened to look at similar Cougar models.
3/9/2023 – Investigation concluded and scope completed. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : The remedy is inspect the window to determine if the correct window is
installed. If there is no egress, install the correct window 437572. Manufacturer Reimbursement Plan on file as of 10/11/2022. General reimbursement plan to be updated every two years. New vehicles are covered under warranty. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Part number 437572 is an egress window and is the replacement for the existing window, part number 437840.
Units were quarantined, inspected then repaired as indicated by inspection. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Keystone will notify the dealers and owners of the recreational vehicles
by letter. A final copy of the owner letter will be provided to NHTSA, along with the dealer repair procedures.
