Chronology :
In December 2022, network status showed cases of brake lights staying on at a higher rate for MY 20222.
In trying to understand the trend, BRP made various tests and validations and looked at previous model year situation as well. BRP identified two issues:
1- Contamination on a previous brake light switch design which could induce corrosion over time and cause the brake lights to continuously illuminate. The position of the brake light switch in the vehicles is a key factor. The vehicles in this population are the MY2020 and 2021 Spyder RT.
2- The newer design of brake light switch was more resistant to contamination. However, it could have components with excessive friction for a proper brake light illumination functionality. The vehicles in this population are MY2022 and 2023 Spyder RT and MY2022 and 2023 Ryker.
With all the information collected and analyzed, BRP decided on March 9, 2023 it had enough information to report and wants to proceed with a safety recall.
For Spyder RT MY2020-2021-2022 and 2023, BRP received 175 warranty claims, of which 66 came from the USA. For Ryker MY2022-2023, BRP received 265 warranty claims, of which 168 came from the USA. No accident was reported worldwide.
The failure rate varies between models and model years. Spyder RT MY2020-2021 have a failure rate of 1,6%. Spyder RT MY2022 and 2023 have a failure rate of 0,20% and Ryker MY2022-2023 have a failure rate of 1,93%.

However, it could have The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-175 Page 3 components with excessive friction for a proper brake light illumination functionality.
Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : • BRP will repair the vehicle at no cost.
• The repair will be as follows:
o For MY2020 and 2021 Spyder RT, the repair is to replace the brake light switch, adjust the brake light switch and add a spring to the brake light switch. o For MY2022 and 2023 Spyder RT, the repair is to add a spring to the brake light switch. o For MY2022 and 2023 Ryker, the repair is to adjust the brake light switch and add a spring to the brake light switch.
• The safety recall will be launched on March 17, 2023
• If a customer previously had the same issue as this safety recall and BRP did not cover the cost of the repair, he/she can contact BRP for reimbursement. However, the vehicle will still need to have the safety recall repair. The General Reimbursement plan will be provided. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The new brake light switch has been modified to improve its watertightness. MY2020 and 2021 Spyder RT will have this new brake light switch.
Readjustment of the brake light switch to a specific torque will be completed on Spyder RT MY2020, 2021 and Ryker MY2022, 2023
A new spring to the brake light switch will be added on MY2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 Spyder RT and MY 2022, 2023 in order to allow proper activation of the brake light with the pedal. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The vehicles that are still in possession of BRP will be corrected with the same remedy as per the remedy program. It is also currently planned that this will also apply for vehicles MY23 that will be produced after that date. BIALYSTOK Foreign States 15-399 Country : Poland Chronology :
In December 2022, network status showed cases of brake lights staying on at a higher rate for MY 20222. In trying to understand the trend, BRP made various tests and validations and looked at previous model year situation as well. BRP identified two issues:
1- Contamination on a previous brake light switch design which could induce corrosion over time and cause the brake lights to continuously illuminate. The position of the brake light switch in the vehicles is a key factor. The vehicles in this population are the MY2020 and 2021 Spyder RT.
2- The newer design of brake light switch was more resistant to contamination. However, it could have The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-175 Page 3 components with excessive friction for a proper brake light illumination functionality.
