IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL – SECOND NOTICE
Dear Valued Dealer:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Jayco Inc. has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain model year 2023 North Point fifth wheels.
This is a follow up to a previous letter we mailed regarding this recall. Our records show that this recall has not been completed on your vehicle.
An operator error at the Dexter Axle manufacturing plant caused the wrong specification to be used on the torque guns when the axle U-bolts were tightened. An insufficiently tightened U-bolt could allow the axle to slip out of position. An axle that moves out of position can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy consists of inspection and tightening the U-bolts. The remedy is free of charge and will take approximately 1 hour to complete.
Our records show the following unit as affected by this recall, and as part of the current inventory at your Dealership.

Dexter Axle U-Bolt Torque Inspection and Repair
 When performing warranty or recall service, please make certain that appropriate
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used.
 The remedy is to torque the axle U-bolt nuts in a cross pattern to 110 ft lbs.
1. Locate the trailer on a level, flat, hard surface. Chock the wheels.
2. Follow the Dexter instructions below.

3/16/2023 Dexter Axle contacted Jayco Compliance to discuss the U-bolts on certain axles.
3/20/2023 The Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) discussed the incident and elevated it to CPAC. Following the WIRC meeting, an email was sent to the Corrective Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) to notify them of the incident prior to our next scheduled meeting to be held April 5, 2023. They were informed that due to the nature of the incident it needs to be elevated to the Safety Steering Committee (SSC) which is scheduled to meet on March 23, 2023.
3/23/2023 The SSC met and voted to proceed with filing a safety recall with NHTSA. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : The remedy consists of Inspection and tightening the U-bolts. Repairs
made prior to the recall will be reimbursed in accordance with our Recall Reimbursement Plan on file with NHTSA. Jayco Inc. will file completion reports. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Remedied components will be torqued to the proper specification. The recall condition was corrected in production at Dexter in February 2023 by making a programming change that will not allow the wrong torque to be selected.
