This condition could lead to inadvertent activation. It was determined that this condition only affects remote controls with wireless capability that are not water proof. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : Per WARN Recall Notice 22E-101 ..Personal injury if winch operates unexpectedly. No injuries have been reported associated with any product failures. No significant property damage other than the winch system, winch mounting brackets and front bumpers have been reported as a result of corrosion related issues. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Contacting owners of the effected units. Collecting contact data and working with WARN to reimburse owners per recall report 22E-101 How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : per recall report 22E-101 .. Removing the battery pack from the current remote control disables the wireless function controlling the winch, significantly mitigating the hazard. The remote remains fully usable in the corded configuration when physically plugged into the winch. Unplugging the remote from the winch when not in use eliminates the hazard. IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL This notice applies to your trailer, see VIN below NHTSA Recall No. 23E028 and 22E101 April 10th, 2023 Re: Recall on Felling Trailers Equipped with certain Warn Winches To Whom It May Concern This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Felling Trailers, based on information provided by WARN, has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022-2023 Drop-Deck and 2023 Deck-Over trailers equipped with WARN branded winch. Felling Trailer Model # _______________ Vin #________________________________ Description of defect: Water may enter the handheld remote control for the winch and cause circuit board corrosion, which can allow the winch to operate unintentionally, which increases the risk of injury. Description of Remedy: • Disable wireless function (see instructions below). • Warn will offer $100 coupon from WARN as compensation for lack of wireless function. • Warn will offer a new corded-only remote if current remote shows evidence of corrosion. Disabling Wireless function: Remove battery pack from current remote. This will disable wireless function of remote, significantly mitigating the hazard. The remote will remain functional in the corded configuration when physically plugged into the winch. Unplugging the remote from the winch when not in use eliminates the hazard.
