Insufficient Wiring Protection May Cause Fire
An electrical short circuit increases the risk of a fire. Additionally, a vehicle fire may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

Prevost

) is recalling certain 2023 X3-45 and X3-45 VIP Entertainer motor coaches. The grommet that protects the electrical power distribution cables passing through a metallic panel is insufficient, allowing the cables to chafe on the edges of the panel and potentially short circuit.
Remedy
Prevost
will inspect, and replace the grommet if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 8, 2023. Owners may contact Prevost
customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost

Power Cable Unsuitable Grommet
DESCRIPTION
On vehicles affected by this recall, electrical power distribution cables routed through a metallic panel are not protected by a suitable grommet (grommet was cut in half and both parts where glued to the panel). If one of the halves fell off, the wiring conductor insulation could become damaged by chafing on the edges of the panel, potentially causing a short-circuit.

2023-03-28 Internal Prevost
investigation was opened to identify the root cause and to determine if vehicles were delivered with this issue.
2023-03-30 Delivery Stop was issued to stop the delivery of new vehicles until the investigation is completed and corrective actions are implemented.
2023-03-31 Case was presented on Volvo
PSWG. Decision made to raise the potential safety issue to Volvo
Product Safety Committee (PSC) for review and determination.
2023-03-31 Internal campaign was launched to solve the issue on all vehicles in production before being delivered.
2023-03-03 Case was presented to Volvo
PSC. It was concluded that there was a safety related defect and that a recall is needed.
2023-04-06 Safety Recall report submitted to authorities.

PROCEDURE
DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop the engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position.
Lockout & Tag out (LOTO) must be performed during set-up, maintenance or repair activities. Refer to your local procedure for detailed information regarding the control of hazardous energy.

1. Locate the grommet location in the rear electrical compartment.
• Open the vehicle curb side engine door.
• Open the rear electrical compartment (next to the batteries).
• In the compartment, the two part grommet is installed in the cable pass through hole located at the top right corner of the compartment (hidden behind the battery equalizer).

2. Cut all the cable ties holding the power cables passing through the hole.
3. Remove both halves of the grommet.
• Discard the grommet halves.
• Remove residual adhesive on the panel as required.
4. Cut the supplied 069464 cable protector (grommet).
• Slice the grommet with a slant cut to allow the insertion of the cables.

5. Install the grommet in the electrical compartment.
• Pass the cables one by one in the sliced cable protector.
• Slide the cable protector in the wall opening.
• Place the slanted cut at -/+ 75deg from top (to clear the installed T-mount).
6. Solidify the cable protector installation.
• Put a few drop of 680066 glue (or equivalent super glue) to “weld” the slanted cut of the cable protector.
• Add some 564099 cloth tape over the re-glued cut area as shown.
7. Secure the power cables.
• Re-attach the power cables using the supplied 504016 & 504637 cable ties, make sure the cables are secure that there is no contact sharp edges.

On certain vehicles, electrical power distribution cables routed through a metallic panel were not protected by a suitable grommet. The wiring conductor insulation could become damaged by chafing on the edges of the panel, potentially causing a short-circuit which could increase the risk of a fire.

A fire increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and persons around the vehicle. A fire may also require a passenger evacuation in traffic and other potential hazards, which increases the risk of injury.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Prevost
Car US Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2023 X3-45 Coach & X3-45 VIP Entertainer vehicles.
DEFECT DESCRIPTION
On certain vehicles, electrical power distribution cables routed through a metallic panel were not protected by a suitable grommet. The wiring conductor insulation could become damaged by chafing on the edges of the panel, potentially causing a short-circuit which could increase the risk of a fire.
SAFETY RISK
A fire increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and persons around the vehicle. A fire may also require a passenger evacuation in traffic and other potential hazards, which increases the risk of injury.
IDENTIFICATION OF ANY WARNING THAT CAN PRECEDE
There is no warning with this issue.

has released a repair procedure to remedy the affected vehicle population by replacing the grommet. The service and required parts will be provided free of charge.

PRE-NOTIFICATION REMEDIES
If you have previously paid for repairs as a result of this issue, you may be entitled to recovery of those expenses. Prevost
Car US will reimburse the claimant by check for the reasonable amount paid for repairs (i.e. the cost of parts, labor, disposal fees and taxes) that addressed the defect as stated in the safety recall notification. To qualify, repairs must have been completed no earlier than one year prior to the release of the recall and no later than 10 days after the release of the recall mailing of the initial customer notification letter pertaining to the recall. To get reimbursed, please file an online warranty claim following normal Campaign procedures if you are a registered customer, otherwise, contact the Prevost
Warranty Department at 1-866-870-2046 for reimbursement instructions.
REIMBURSEMENT OF PRE-NOTIFICATION REMEDIES
When a Prevost
vehicle is affected by a safety recall and the owner/purchaser (claimant) has the safety-related defect or FMVSS regulatory noncompliance remedied at their own

investigation was opened to identify the root cause and to determine if vehicles were delivered with this issue. 2023-03-30 Delivery Stop was issued to stop the delivery of new vehicles until the investigation is completed and corrective actions are implemented. 2023-03-31 Case was presented on Volvo
PSWG. Decision made to raise the potential safety issue to Volvo
Product Safety Committee (PSC) for review and determination. 2023-03-31 Internal campaign was launched to solve the issue on all vehicles in production before being delivered. 2023-03-03 Case was presented to Volvo
PSC. It was concluded that there was a safety related defect and that a recall is needed. 2023-04-06 Safety Recall report submitted to authorities. No warranty claims related to this issue. No field reports, incidents, accidents, injury, or fatality were reported. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Prevost
will inspect all concerned vehicles and, if required, replace the
unsuitable grommet with a suitable one. Letters will be sent to customers to inform them on how to proceed. Prevost
will execute this correction free of charge (parts and labor) for the customers. In case a customer has already inspected and corrected this defect before the safety recall has been launched, this customer will be reimbursed according to Prevost
reimbursement plan. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The issue concerns an unsuitable component that was installed on certain vehicles during manufacturing. After the remedy, the unsuitable grommet will be replaced with a suitable one on all vehicles.
The recall condition was corrected in production on March 31, 2023, when an internal campaign was launched. All vehicles are corrected prior to delivery. Recall Schedule :
