This is the date the correction was made in production. Production Dates : JAN 24, 2023 – APR 28, 2023 VIN Range 1 : Begin : 1B9KUWH20PJ310599 End : 1B9KUWH2XPJ311081 Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : There is a 12awg main trunkline wire that is protected by a 20 amp fuse, with 16awg wires branching off of it. The 16awg branch wires are not individually fused, and because of this are under protected in the event of a short circuit. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : In the event of a short circuit the 16awg wires would be under protected and heat-up before the fuse could trip which may increase the risk of fire”. This could result in the increased risk of personal injury, and property damage. Description of the Cause : The 16awg wire is under protected and in the event of a short circuit would heat-up before the 20amp fuse could be tripped. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : Bystanders may smell the wire coating burning off the wire. Involved Components : Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-327 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Component Name 1 : Electrical Harness Component Description : Under Floor Wire Harness Component Part Number : 514291 Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : NR Address : NR NR Country : NR Chronology : 4/28/23 – During an audit of the Atlas electrical system it was discovered that the 16awg wires coming off he main 12awg wire harness truck line were not separately fused. 5/4/23 – The Airstream Safety Committee convened and agreed to submit a 573. To date there have no reported occurrences in the field. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : The remedy is to remove the Timber line system and power step from the existing harness trunkline, and replacing the 20A fuse with a 5 amp fuse. A new circuit will be added for the Timberline system and power step. A new 12awg wire will be added and protected by a 20 amp fuse. Customers will be allowed reimbursement following the general reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA. This repair will take approximately 1 hour. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Atlas E1 units built beginning on 5/1/2023 will have additional 5amp fuse in the wire harness. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Production began manufacturing with the remedy on 5/1/2023.
