) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Rockport work trucks. The trailer brake controller may have been incorrectly wired.
Remedy
Dealers will rewire the trailer brake controller, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 24, 2023. Owners may contact Forest River
Customer Service at 1-574-327-2392. Forest River

has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022-2023 Rockport Work Trucks. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.
WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?
The trailer brake controller may be wired incorrectly.
EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.
If the trailer brake controller is wired incorrectly, the vehicle may not be able to stop while towing a trailer, which may lead to a crash, increasing the risk of an injury.

Forest River
is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River
dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest River
completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy to rewire the brake controller. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River
of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy.

HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?
The estimated time of repair is .50 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.

Disconnect the vehicles battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power. Block any tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.

INSPECTION:
STEP 1: LOCATE THE BRAKE CONTROLLER MOUNTED TO THE DASH AREA OF THE DRIVERS SIDE;
STEP 2: INSPECT WIRING;
- BLUE WIRE FROM FUSE BLOCK IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO THE BRAKE CONTROLLER;
- BLUE WIRE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO THE BRAKE CONTROLLER;
- YELLOW WIRE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO THE BRAKE CONTROLLER;
- WHITE WIRE FROM BRAKE CONTROLLER SHOULD BE GROUNDED TO VEHICLE BEHIND DASH
STEP 3: IF WIRING IS CORRECT (MATCHING ABOVE DESCRIPTION), CLAIM THE INSPECTION CODE AND DO NOTHING MORE. IF THE WIRING DOES NOT MATCH THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION(S), MOVE ON TO THE REMEDY.
REMEDY:
STEP 1: LOCATE THE INCORRECT WIRING FROM THE INSPECTION;
STEP 2: OF THE INCORRECTLY WIRED CIRCUIT, CUT OUT THE BUTT-CONNECTORS AND DISCARD;
STEP 3: RE-WIRE USING NEW HEAT SHINK BUTT-CONNECTORS USING THE BELOW INSTRUCTIONS;
- BLUE WIRE FROM FUSE BLOCK IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT (ON A 15AMP FUSE) TO THE BRAKE CONTROLLER;
- BLUE WIRE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO THE BRAKE CONTROLLER;
- YELLOW WIRE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO THE BRAKE CONTROLLER;
- WHITE WIRE FROM BRAKE CONTROLLER SHOULD BE GROUNDED TO VEHICLE BEHIND DASH
STEP 4: CLEAN AREA COMPLETELY OF ANY DEBRIS;
STEP 5: TEST APPROPRIATE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE BRAKE CONTROLLER AND TRAILER BRAKES;
STEP 6: CLAIM REPAIR CODE.
Chronology :
On May 4, 2023, Forest River
’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) was contacted by the manufacturing plant, and it was indicated that the division received a single complaint on May 3, 2023, indicating that the trailer brake controller may have been wired incorrectly. OCC and the manufacturing plant opened a research item.
On May 5, 2023, OCC asked the manufacturing plant to review all vehicles in inventory to see if any other vehicles may have incorrectly wired brake controller(s).
On May 8, 2023, the manufacturing plant concluded that after review of inventory vehicles, the plant may have manufactured vehicles with an incorrectly wired brake controller.
On May 12, 2023, Forest River
’s Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall the remaining vehicles in commerce.
